Abstract: A process for providing a desired environment in an indoor space includes providing light from one or more light sources suitable for meeting a set of general illumination parameters and dynamically adjusting the light from the one or more light sources based on a set of simulated environment illumination parameters while maintaining the light within the general illumination parameters. By dynamically adjusting the light from the one or more light sources, the feelings of the desired environment may be evoked within the indoor space. By maintaining the light output within the set of general illumination parameters, the effect of the dynamic adjustment may minimize distraction caused thereby.

Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a solid-state light source, communications circuitry, and control circuitry coupled to the communications circuitry and the solid-state light source. The control circuitry is configured to receive a message from a neighboring device via the communications circuitry, the message indicating the detection of an occupancy event by the neighboring device. Further, the control circuitry is configured to adjust a light output provided by the solid-state light source based on a neighbor ranking of the neighboring device, wherein the neighbor ranking indicates a number of intermediate devices located between the lighting fixture and the neighboring device.

Abstract: A frame is obtained from an image sensor. The frame may include a number of zones, each of which in turn includes a number of pixels. Each one of the pixels may be associated with a pixel value. A pixel change value for each one of the pixels in the frame may be determined based on an average pixel value of the pixel over a number of frames. The pixel change value for each pixel may then be normalized based on an average zone change value for the zone in which the pixel is located. The average zone change value may be based on the pixel change value for each one of the pixels in the zone. By using the average zone change value to normalize the pixel change value, an image frame may be analyzed in an efficient and fast manner.

Abstract: A lighting management system includes communications circuitry, processing circuitry, and a memory. The memory stores instructions, which, when executed by the processing circuitry cause the lighting management system to receive a message from a lighting fixture via the communications circuitry, the message indicating a proximal presence of a detected mobile device to the lighting fixture, and performing one or more actions in response to receipt of the message. By performing the one or more actions upon receipt of the message as described above, a lighting system may be provided with additional functionality that enhances the lighting system.

Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a light source, a housing coupled to the light source, a light sensor, and a sensor cover over the light sensor and coupled to the housing. The housing includes an opening through which light generated by the light source is emitted towards an area of interest, and an exposed surface that reflects light such that the housing appears at a first color. The sensor cover includes a front surface that reflects light such that the sensor cover appears at a second color, which is substantially similar to the first color, and has an average transmittance greater than 10% within a desired wavelength band. By providing the sensor cover with the reflectance and average transmittance as described, a functional sensor cover that aesthetically blends with a lighting fixture is achieved.

Abstract: An intelligent sign, such as an exit or other informational sign, is equipped with control circuitry, at least one sensor, and in certain embodiments, a communication interface. The control circuitry can monitor sensor data from the associated sensors. The sensor data bears on various conditions or events associated with the area that is associated with the exit sign. Based on the sensor data, the intelligent sign can provide one or more operations. A sign operation may include any operation provide by the intelligent sign. When equipped with the communication interface, the intelligent sign may control its own internal operation and/or control the operation of other entities based on the sensor data, the type of sensor data, the content of the sensor data, and the like. The intelligent sign may also share sensor data or other information derived from the sensor data with other entities.

Abstract: A lighting device system includes light emitters where a battery powers the light emitters. A battery supplies the power for powering the light emitters and a driver is arranged to selectively power the light emitters to adjust an operating parameter of the at least one light emitter based on the charge status of the battery. The driver may be in communication with a GNSS receiver that provides geospatial information used to adjust the at least one parameter. The driver may power the light emitters according to a non-adaptive light level profile and an adaptive light level profile where the light emitters consume less energy when operated under the adaptive light level profile than when operated under the non-adaptive light level profile. A processing device operatively coupled to memory determines, based on a state of charge of the battery, which profile to run.

Abstract: A method includes the steps of obtaining a frame from an image sensor, the frame comprising a number of pixel values, detecting a change in a first subset of the pixel values, detecting a change in the second subset of the pixel values near the first subset of the pixel values, and determining an occupancy state based on a relationship between the change in the first subset of the pixel values and the second subset of the pixel values. The occupancy state may be determined to be occupied when the change in the first subset of the pixel values is in a first direction and the change in the second subset of the pixel values is in a second direction opposite the first direction.
