Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a fixture body, a lighting bay, a light source, and an auxiliary bay. The lighting bay is in a first portion of the fixture body. The light source is in the lighting bay, and is configured to provide light suitable for general illumination. The auxiliary bay is adjacent to the lighting bay in a second portion of the fixture body. The auxiliary bay includes a mounting surface suitable for mounting an auxiliary device in the auxiliary bay and an auxiliary bay frame surrounding the auxiliary bay, which supports and therefore allows for the installation of a removable auxiliary bay cover over the auxiliary bay. Providing the auxiliary bay in the fixture body allows auxiliary devices to be installed in a ceiling without any changes to the ceiling.

Abstract: In one aspect, luminaires are described herein having sensor modules integrated therein. In one aspect, a luminaire described herein comprises a light emitting face including a LED assembly. A sensor module is integrated into the luminaire at a position at least partially overlapping the light emitting face. In another aspect, a luminaire described herein comprises a LED assembly and a driver assembly. A sensor module is integrated into the luminaire along or more convective air current pathways cooling the LED assembly or driver assembly.

Abstract: A modular overhead lighting system includes a raceway element and one or more interchangeable lighting modules capable of variable positioning relative to the raceway element. Multiple raceway conductors are mounted in the raceway element, with a portion of each raceway conductor being exposed along a lower surface thereof to facilitate continuously variable positioning of lighting modules. An electrical connector for establishing electrical connections between a raceway element and a lighting module includes multiple ridges incorporating electrical contacts configured to contact raceway conductors, and includes terminals to removably receive electrical wires permitting electrical communication between a lighting module and the raceway element.

Abstract: A lighting fixture includes an outer frame, a solid-state light source, a lens, and a sensor module connector. Driver circuitry is coupled to the outer frame and provides one or more drive signals for powering the light source. The lens is supported by and attached to the outer frame. The solid-state light source is mounted to the outer frame and at least partially surrounded by the lens, such that at least a portion of the light provided by the solid-state light source is transmitted through the lens towards an area of interest. The sensor module connector is mounted to the outer frame and configured to accept a connector from a sensor module such that when the sensor module is installed in the lighting fixture, a surface of the sensor module faces the area of interest towards which light from the solid-state light source is provided.

Abstract: A sensor module is integrated into a lighting fixture. The sensor module includes one or more environmental sensors and can be readily installed in or removed from the lighting fixture. In one embodiment, a heatsink of the lighting fixture is configured to receive the sensor module. Readings from the environmental sensors may be passed to control electronics associated with the lighting fixture and used to control the light output of the lighting fixture. The readings may also be passed on to other lighting fixtures, which may also use the readings to control their light output.

Abstract: In one aspect, luminaires are described herein enabling independent thermal management of driver and LED assemblies. For example, a luminaire comprises a driver assembly vertically integrated with a LED assembly, the driver assembly comprising a driver heatsink having an interior in which a circuit board assembly is positioned, and the LED assembly comprising an array of LEDs and LED heatsink, wherein a barrier is positioned between the driver heatsink and the LED heatsink, separating convective cooling of the driver assembly from convective cooling of the LED assembly.
