    Abstract: A vehicle occupant information acquisition system including an onboard device mounted to a vehicle and at least one vehicular portable device associated with the onboard device is provided. The vehicular portable device has a function of performing short-range communication with portable terminals, determines a holder's terminal based on a variation in received signal strength indication of a signal sent from each portable terminal, and sends a holder information signal identifying the holder's terminal to the onboard device. The onboard device identifies a user holding the vehicular portable device based on the holder information signal sent from the vehicular portable device, and identifies a portable device location by receiving a response signal. A seat determined based on the portable device location is determined to be a seated location of the user acting as the portable device holder.

    Abstract: A heat flux sensor is installed in such a way that heat flux emanating from a biological object present at a predetermined position is detectable. It is determined whether or not a biological object is present at the predetermined position by comparing sensing results of the heat flux sensor with determination criteria. The determination criteria is preset according to heat flux that can be sensed when a biological object is present at the predetermined position. When the sensing results of the heat flux sensor satisfy the determination criteria, in other words, when the heat flux sensed by the heat flux sensor is the heat flux emanating from a biological object, it is determined that a biological object is present at the predetermined position. Consequently, it is possible to realize accurate detection of a biological object.

    Abstract: A smart key and a mobile terminal store therein key information to be used for authentication with a vehicle to function as a key (key device) of a vehicle. Each of the smart key and the mobile terminal performs communication for authentication with an in-vehicle system or the like by BLE communication. For power saving, the smart key basically operates in a sleep mode in which the BLE communication is not possible. On receiving a wake signal periodically transmitted from the vehicle, the smart key transitions to a state where the BLE communication is possible. When sensing the presence of the mobile terminal within a predetermined distance from the vehicle, the in-vehicle system stops the periodic transmission of the wake signal.

    Abstract: A comfortable temperature control apparatus for a vehicle includes a temperature-change element that changes a temperature by being energized; a heat flux sensor outputting a sensor signal corresponding to a heat flux; a heat diffusion layer disposed on the heat flux sensor; and a control unit that energizes the temperature-change element so as to adjust its temperature. In a seat provided in the vehicle cabin, a cover surface side contacting a passenger, the heat diffusion layer, the heat flux sensor and the temperature-change element are arranged in this order. The heat flux sensor outputs the sensor signal to the control unit, the sensor signal corresponding to the heat flux between the cover surface and the temperature-change element.
