    摘要: A heat sink retention apparatus includes a frame for supporting a heat sink. A plurality of flexible members extend from opposite ends of the frame. Each flexible member includes a retention tab and one of the retention tabs includes a retraction tab. A heat sink is snapped-into the frame by engaging either of the retention tabs and flexing the other retention tab. The retraction tab can be flexed to disengage one of the retention tabs for extracting the heat sink from the frame.

    摘要: A processor extraction device interacts with a processor to extract the processor from coupling between connectors of the processor and a socket, such as land grid array connectors that are susceptible to damage from dragging or rotational movement during extraction. For instance, adhesive couples the processor to a load plate that closes over the socket to compress the processor in the socket so that the adhesive extracts the processor as the load plate moves from the closed position to an open position distal the socket. As another example, the load plate closed position compresses the processor onto springs that bias the processor out of the socket upon movement of the load plate to the opened position.

    摘要: A surface mount connector that can be used for both single and double-sided PWB's. A telephone may have a printed wiring board with connector access from the bottom of the telephone and keypad activation from the top of the telephone. If a double-sided PWB is used, the connector is mounted to the bottom side of the PWB, while the keypad is mounted to the top of the PWB. The connector faces away from the PWB to provide access from below the telephone. If a single-sided PWB is used, the connector is mounted to the top side of the PWB, so that the keypad can also be mounted to the top side. The connector is placed, with connector access down, into an opening through the PWB. The connector extends down through the opening in the PWB with the leads of the connector remaining on the top side of the PWB. The leads of the connector are secured to pads on the top side of the PWB.

    摘要: This invention relates to collet-type fittings (201) for use in collet-type splices and collet-type dead ends and methods for splicing together two aluminum conductor composite core reinforced cables (ACCC) or terminating one ACCC cable. The collet-type fittings (201) comprise a collet (202) coincident with a collet housing (204) to hold the composite cores. The composite cores can be stripped of the aluminum conductor to provide a bond between the collet (202) and the composite core. After inserting the composite core into the collet (202), a compression element (206) compresses the collet (202). The collet (202) holds the composite core with frictional forces and the collet (202) further compresses and strengthens the hold on the composite core if the composite core pulls the collet (202) further into the collet housing (204).
