摘要:
The invention generally relates to polymer films used as protective cover sheets for polarizer plates, a method for producing polarizing plates, and a Liquid Crystal Display employing the same. More particularly, the invention relates to a cover sheet composite having a removable, carrier substrate and a cover sheet comprising a low birefringence polymer film and a layer that promotes adhesion to polyvinyl alcohol on the same side of the carrier substrate as the low birefringence polymer film. The guarded cover sheet of the invention is less susceptible to defects due to dirt and abrasion during the manufacture of the cover sheet and polarizer plates. In addition, the cover sheet has excellent adhesion to polyvinyl alcohol-containing dichroic films and eliminates the need to alkali treat the cover sheet prior to lamination to the dichroic films.

The invention relates to a protective cover sheet comprising a low birefringence protective polymer film and a layer containing a water-soluble polymer and polymer particles that promotes adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol). The cover sheet has excellent adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol)-containing dichroic polarizing films and eliminates the need to alkali treat the cover sheet prior to lamination to the dichroic films, thereby simplifying the process to manufacture polarizing plates.

The present invention generally relates to polymer films having improved adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol) films. More particularly, the invention relates to a protective cover sheet comprising a low birefringence protective polymer film, a layer that promotes adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol), and a tie layer between the said low birefringence polymer film and said layer promoting adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol). The cover sheet has excellent adhesion to poly(vinyl alcohol)-containing dichroic films and eliminates the need to alkali treat the cover sheet prior to lamination to the dichroic films, thereby simplifying the process to manufacture polarizing plates for use in displays.

The present application generally relates to orthopedic stabilization systems, and in particular, to systems including clamps. The clamps can be used in addition to or to replace hooks that grasp onto bone members, such as the lamina. One example of such a clamp is an in-line clamp that includes a central opening for receiving a rod member, a first opening for receiving a set screw and a second opening for receiving an elastic member therethrough. Another example of such a clamp is an off-set clamp that includes an upper plate, a bottom plate, and an opening for receiving a rod therein. The upper plate can be separated from the bottom plate to make space for an elastic member that can be secured within the plates. Tulip clamps that utilize one or more elastic members are also provided.

Disclosed are a pest control agent, a method for preparing a pest control agent, and a method for controlling a pest. Generally, the pest control agent is formed by providing a porous starch and an active control agent absorbed within the porous starch, and compressing the porous starch in the presence of heat to form discrete plural particles. Preferably, one or more binders are employed, as are one or more secondary absorbents/fillers. In highly preferred embodiments of the invention, the pest control agent is prepared via pelletizing in a commercial pellet mill. The particles so prepared should be sufficiently durable to withstand bulk transport, such as by rail car or bag shipment. The particles should, however, release the control agent quickly upon contact with water, such that, for instance, the control agent may be released when the pest control agent is introduced to standing water. It is contemplated that the control agent is preferably a mosquito control agent.

The present invention describes an improved mounting device or catch intended for mounting mirrors, glass plates or other generally flat objects to walls, doors, cabinets or other similar surfaces. The present invention comprises a plastic shell element, similar in appearance to existing mounting devices, but having a recessed means on its back side to accommodate a support plate. The support plate is a preferably metal, generally J-shaped plate that engages the plastic shell to provide much greater structural integrity to the mounting device. The present invention provides a retainer means by which the support plate is retained by and releasably engages the shell that is easily assembled and allows ease of installation. In addition to strengthening the basic support structure, the metal plate provides a secondary support means that can retain the supported object even in the event of a failure of the plastic shell, potentially preventing the destruction of the supported object. The improved structural features are accomplished while retaining the aesthetic features and resilient support features of prior-art plastic mounting devices.

Misaligned bones on opposite sides of a joint are aligned using a first rigid extension securable to one of the misaligned bones using a particular surgical approach, and a second rigid extension having a contacting surface positionable in contact with the other the two misaligned bones from the same surgical approach. The first and second rigid extensions are moved with respect to each other using a lever, whereby a pulling force is exerted on one of the bones, and a pushing force on the other, thereby aligning the first and second misaligned bones.

There is disclosed a process and a composition for dyeing polymeric fibers which have limited dye sites and/or difficult to penetrate chemical structures. Briefly stated, the process comprises the steps of contacting polymeric fibers with a dye composition comprising a disperse dye and a swelling agent. The fibers in contact with said dye composition are then preferably heated to a temperature and for a time sufficient to effect dispersion of a portion of said dye into said polymeric fibers. Subsequently, the fibers are treated to remove residual dye composition.
