    摘要: Apparatus and method of data recovery are provided for data detection in a partial-response (PR) data channel. The PR data channel includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for providing digital samples of a readback data signal and a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) timing control coupled to the ADC. A data recovery procedure (DRP) is established responsive to a detected readback error. Using amplitude offset circuitry, amplitude of the readback data signal is selectively adjusted responsive to the detected readback error; and using gain control, a correction current applied to the VCO timing control is changed responsive to the detected readback error.

    摘要: A simplified structure for a single track read/write head design is disclosed. The design incorporates a simplified write coil structure and an improved and simplified combined magnetic bias and sensor current structure. The active sensing current is utilized both to create an anti-parallel magnetic vector couple in a coupled film magneto resistive sensor and to magnetically bias or torque the anti-parallel couple so that magnetization within the sensor films lies at an angle with the easy magnetic axis. Sensor current is fed in series through an electro-magnetic coil wrapped about the magneto resistive sensor so that sense current simultaneously creates an anti-parallel magnetic vector couple in the sensor and generates an electromagnetic bias field to torque the anti-parallel couple at an angle with the easy axis of magnetization. An improved spirally laid-out planar deposited writing flux coil is positioned about the writing electromagnetic core which greatly simplifies fabrication steps in making the device.

The moving and writing steps are sequentially repeating until a second crash stop is reached. A quad-burst servo amplitude pattern or phase pattern can be used for the servo information. The servo writing method is adapted easily for many different servo options. When the file uses a hybrid servo or sector servo, the other surfaces can be written by duplicating the servo bursts with a high bandwidth servo system of the file. Alternatively, the servo writing steps can be repeated for each of the other surfaces for providing head dependent pitch. Variable track pitch can be provided by selectively varying the predetermined value compared with the detected servo signal.
