    摘要: A light source and method for controlling the same. The light source includes a first component light source that includes N LEDs, a photo-detector, and a collector, where N>1. Each LED has a light emitting chip in a package. The light emitting chip emits light in a forward direction and light in a side direction. The light generated in the forward direction is determined by a drive signal coupled to that LED. A portion of the light in the side direction leaves the package. The collector is positioned such that a portion of the light in the side direction that leaves the package of each of the LEDs is directed onto the photo-detector. The photo-detector generates N intensity signals, each intensity signal having an amplitude related to the intensity of the light emitted in the side direction by a corresponding one of the LEDs.

The light source includes a first component light source that includes N LEDs, a photo-detector, and a light redirector, where N>1. Each LED has a light emitting chip in a package. The light emitting chip emits light in a forward direction and light in a side direction. The light generated in the forward direction is determined by a drive signal coupled to that LED. A portion of the light in the side direction leaves the package. The light redirector is positioned such that a portion of the light in the side direction that leaves the package of each of the LEDs is scattered onto the photo-detector.     摘要: A light source and method for making the same are disclosed. The light source includes a plurality of LEDs mounted on a substrate and a sensor for measuring light from the LEDs. Each LED emits light having a different spectrum from the other LEDs, the average intensity of light from that LED being determined by a drive signal coupled to that LED. The sensor generates a plurality of signals, each signal being characterized by a sensor value that is proportional to the intensity of light emitted by a corresponding one of the LEDs. A controller generates the drive signals and stores a current target value for each LED. The drive signals for each of the LEDs is generated such that the sensor value for that LED matches the stored current target value for that LED.

The light source generates light at first and second wavelengths with intensities that are determined by first and second control signals that are set by a feedback controller that matches the outputs of a monitoring circuit to target signals. The target signals are generated from target values that are entered into the feedback controller by exposing the light source to the target light source and observing the outputs from a set of photodetectors incorporated in the light source. In one embodiment, the photodetectors in the monitoring circuit are used for this programming function.
