Abstract: A method of modifying a time to collision threshold includes receiving data and images of an object from image capturing devices and non-visual sensors within an automobile, from infrastructure cameras, and from image capturing devices within other automobiles, determining ambient light levels and color of the object, comparing ambient light levels to a pre-determined ambient light level threshold, determining a standard time to collision threshold, and sending the standard time to collision threshold to the collision avoidance system when ambient light levels are at least the pre-determined ambient light level, and, determining a standard time to collision threshold, a lighting coefficient, a color coefficient, applying the lighting and color coefficients to the standard time to collision threshold, calculating a modified time to collision threshold, sending the modified time to collision threshold to the collision avoidance system, when the ambient light levels are less than the pre-determined ambient light level threshold.

Abstract: A trailer backing assistance (TBA) application in a vehicle includes a vehicle attached to a trailer by a movable hitch. The TBA utilizes an HMI, sensors on the vehicle, a GPS system, and a remote computing system (RCS). A controller having a processor, memory, and input/output (I/O) communicates with the sensors, HMI, RCS and GPS via a V2I communications network. The memory stores the TBA which is executed by the processor. The TBA determines conditions have been satisfied, obtains and processes optical data from sensors and RCS, presents a vehicle environment view, prompts a vehicle operator for first and second inputs, calculates a current location of the vehicle, generates a planned path to a target location, presents an animation of the vehicle traversing the path, and continuously displays a live view of the trailer and hitch while actively adjusting on-screen instructions to guide the vehicle and trailer along the path.

Abstract: A system for detecting and mitigating window condensation for a vehicle includes an interior camera and a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The system also includes a controller in electrical communication with the interior camera and the HVAC system. The controller is programmed to determine an opacity of a first window of the vehicle using the interior camera, compare the opacity of the first window to an opacity threshold, and adjust the HVAC system to decrease the opacity of the first window of the vehicle in response to determining that the opacity of the first window is greater than or equal to the opacity threshold.

Abstract: A hidden road parameter detection system is provided with a host vehicle. The system includes a remote vehicle having one or more remote input devices generating one or more remote input signals associated with data indicative of a host vehicle, the road parameter, and/or an obstruction blocking a line of sight between the host vehicle and the road parameter. The system further includes a computer having one or more processors and a non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions, such that the processor is programmed to compare a classification of the obstruction. The processor is further programmed to generate an actuation signal in response to the processor determining that the obstruction is blocking the line of sight from the host vehicle to the road parameter. The host vehicle includes one or more notification devices notifying an occupant of the host vehicle of the road parameter.
