Abstract: A method for SLAM-based parking assist includes determining that a host vehicle is entering a corridor adjacent a target parking slot and determining a potential reusability of at least one of a plurality of previously determined training outcome of a training process for the target parking slot. The training outcome includes training identifying data of a potential parking slot. The method further includes receiving identifying data of the target parking slot, identifying which of the plurality of training outcomes is reusable based on the identifying data of the target parking slot to select an identified training outcome, comparing the identifying data of the target parking slot with the identifying data of the potential parking slot of the identified training outcome, and loading the identifying data of the target parking slot into a SLAM-based parking assist.

Abstract: A method of soliciting an occupant intervention for a simultaneous localization and mapping-based navigation system. A vehicle path plan and a motion control instruction are created and a suspected obstacle in a drive path is identified, wherein the drive path provides a portion of the vehicle path plan. The method further includes providing an indication on a first display that an intervention by an occupant is requested and determining if the occupant is paying attention to the indication on the first display. A system of performing the method includes a controller configured to execute instructions executing the method.

Abstract: A method for generating garage parking notifications includes receiving current parked-vehicle data indicating that a vehicle has been parked inside a garage. The current parked-vehicle data includes the current location of the vehicle parked inside the garage. The method further includes determining whether the current location of the vehicle inside the garage is within a warning zone. The warning zone is an area inside the garage where the vehicle has not been frequently parked. The warning zone area is determined using historical parked-vehicle data. The method further includes generating a notification to warn an operator of the vehicle that the vehicle should be moved in response to determining that the current location of the vehicle inside the garage is within the warning zone.

Abstract: A system for augmented-reality (AR)-assisted vehicle parking with operator-in-loop selections and alignments of feature point vicinities (FPVs) includes a vehicle, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), sensors detecting FPVs of a parking location and controllers. The controllers have a processor, memory, and input/output (I/O) ports in communication with the HMIs and sensors. The memory stores an AR-assisted parking application (ARAPA) executed by the processor. The AR-assisted parking application (ARAPA) has a training session (TS) and a live session (LS), and is activated upon completing parking at a parking spot at the parking location. The TS portion trains the ARAPA to recognize FPVs of the parking spot. The LS portion prompts an operator to select the parking spot, guides the operator into the parking spot by displaying trained FPVs onto live sensor data displayed on the HMI, and instructs the operator to align the trained FPVs with corresponding real-world FPVs by maneuvering the vehicle.

Abstract: A method can be used to provide smart notifications to avoid collisions while the vehicle maneuvers in a tight structural environment, such as a home garage or an underground parking lot. The method includes receiving historical vehicle-trajectory data. The historical vehicle-trajectory data includes the location and the heading of the vehicle for each of the plurality of historical trajectories along the structure. The method further includes clustering the plurality of historical trajectories of the vehicle along the structure by types of maneuvers to generate a plurality of trajectory clusters. The method also includes creating a probability distribution bitmap using the plurality of trajectory clusters and creating a topographic map based on the probability distribution bitmap.

Abstract: A system for deadlock precaution and prevention in autonomous vehicles (AVs) includes: AVs having actuators and sensors. The actuators alter a dynamic state of the AVs, and the sensors capture vehicle state and environmental information. The system receives vehicle state information and predicts a host AV trajectory, and trajectories of other vehicles approaching, entering, or within an intersection. Multi-directional conflicts identification per driving direction (MDCIPD) messages and vehicle state information are transmitted to a cloud computing device. Waiting relations for deadlock prevention are based on the MDCIPD messages and vehicle state information, and a deadlock precaution notification (DPN) and/or a deadlock prevention coordination instruction (DPCI) are generated. The AVs perform advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions via the actuators in response to the DPN and/or DPCI, and cause the AVs to avoid deadlock at the intersection.
