Abstract: A method for rendering data invalid within a memory array is described. The method includes establishing governing metadata for a memory location within a memory array. The method also includes receiving a request to retrieve data from the memory location. The method also includes determining whether color metadata associated with the data matches the governing metadata. The method also includes returning the data when the color metadata matches the governing metadata. The method also includes returning invalidated data when the color metadata does not match the governing metadata.

Abstract: A method for remapping a memory location in a memory array is described. The method includes receiving, by a memory manager, an identification of a first memory location in a memory array that is to be remapped using a remapping procedure performed by a memory manager. The remapping procedure includes selecting a second memory location to store data intended for the first memory location. The procedure also includes writing, in the first memory location, a pointer to the second memory location.

Abstract: A method for restricting write access to a non-volatile memory. The method includes receiving a request to write to a protected location in the non-volatile memory and determining whether the protected location is in a write-protected state. If the protected location is not in a write-protected state, the method includes writing data indicated by the request to the protected location. If the protected location is in a write-protected state, the method includes rejecting the request. The protected location stores a validation key to validate the contents of another portion of the non-volatile memory.

Abstract: A method for managing data using a number of non-volatile memory arrays is described. The method includes writing data from a volatile memory region to a first non-volatile memory array. The method also includes writing a remaining portion of the data from the volatile memory region to a second non-volatile memory array in response to detecting that an event has occurred.
