In order to ensure, in a process for representing a work area in a three-dimensional structure in which the work area is imaged by a viewing device, that the viewing device or an instrument can be introduced into the structure along a predetermined path of displacement despite the different positioning of the viewing device, it is suggested that the relative positioning of the viewing device is determined relative to the structure, that the coordinates of a path of displacement are predetermined for an instrument or for the viewing device in the structure, are compared with the respective positioning and the path of displacement is represented in its correct position in the image. A device for performing this process is also described.

To produce a standard calibration and test element for the calibration and testing of reading and measuring instruments for bar codes and other test scales, a copper coating is applied to a ceramic substrate in a chemically depositing copper bath and degreased, and a photoresist coating is subsequently applied which is exposed through an exposure mask. This mask carries an image of the radiation-transparent and radiation-opaque regions of a pattern to be transferred onto the surface of the ceramic substrate. After removal of the mask, the photoresist coating is developed, the uncovered zones of the copper coating are etched in a metal chloride solution, and the remaining photoresist coating is removed by stripping. The uncovered, etched zones of the copper coating are dyed matt black in a metal bath. Finally, the conductive tracks are provided with a protective coating. The standard calibration and test element produced in this fashion comprises a ceramic substrate 1 as a carrier which contains a proportion of 96 to 97% of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. The thickness of the element is 0.635 to 1.270 mm and the dimensions can extend from a 20 mm edge length to a size of 100.times. 100 mm.

This invention relates to a brake pressure control valve and, more particularly, to a tractor-trailer control valve which includes a differential pressure surface relay piston that on one hand is acted upon by the control pressure from a control chamber and on the other hand by modulated pressure from a working chamber. The brake pressure control valve includes a first combination inlet and outlet valve which works together with the relay piston whereby the working chamber can be pressurized and vented via the first inlet and outlet valves. An auxiliary control chamber which is defined by the differential surfaces of the relay piston is connectable either to the working chamber or to the control chamber via second inlet and outlet valves. The pressure control surface of the relay piston is located opposite the working surface that is acted upon by control pressure in the control chamber. The pressure control surface can be enlarged by the pressure surface of the auxiliary control chamber. Thus, it is possible to modulate a pressure with an initial relatively sharp rise which is followed by a less gradual increase. In order to have a substantially equal characteristic curve during brake pressure decrease as well as during brake pressure buildup, and in order to reduce the hysteresis of the brake pressure control valve, the auxiliary control chamber is no longer vented into the working chamber but is directly vented to the atmosphere. The fluid pressure supply of the inlet valve is separated from the fluid pressure exhaust of the outlet valve of the second combination inlet and outlet valve.

A method for calibrating a fuel injection pump for an engine fuel injection system comprising determining the pressure made available to an injector nozzle at a portion of the injection cycle before the top dead center position of the engine crankshaft. A solenoid-operated control valve establishes a rate of fuel delivery through the injector nozzle. The method calculates a boot current for the valve, which will achieve optimum pressure delivery through the nozzle. An electronic controller for the injection system calibrator relies upon an algorithm to find the lowest and the highest boot current level that will achieve injector stability. The logic of the system will increase the precision of the boot current by repeated substitution of incremental current values to determine an upper limit and a lower limit for the boot current.

In order to be able to ascertain the position of the bone in the body without complicated procedures in a process for the preoperative determination of the positioning data of endoprosthetic parts of a central joint relative to the bones forming the central joint, a respective outer articular point is determined by way of movement of the bones about a respective outer joint which is located at the end of the two bones facing away from the central joint. An articular point is determined for each of the two bones in the area of the central joint, and a direction characteristic for each of these bones is determined by way of a straight-line connection of the two articular points obtained in this manner for the two bones. The orientation of the endoprosthetic parts relative to this characteristic direction is then determined. Apparatus for carrying out the process is also provided.

An apparatus is disclosed for the control of brake pressure in a trailer pulled by a tractor. The apparatus includes a two-circuit controllable relay valve as the trailer control valve. The first circuit is controlled by the brake valve of the tractor with the pressure from the brake apparatus of such tractor. The second circuit can be optionally-connected to a distribution valve with a pressure medium source with a specified pressure or with atmosphere. Activation of the distribution valve is controlled so that the distribution valve connects the second circuit with the pressure medium source before or at the beginning of the activation of the first circuit. With this apparatus, the brake pressure can be increased in the brake apparatus of the trailer prior to increase of the brake pressure in the brake apparatus of the tractor. The level of brake pressure increased first in the brake unit of the trailer can be regulated by a set screw acting on the trailer control valve.

A brake pressure control valve for regulating the braking pressure in the trailer brake system of a tractor-trailer vehicle, so as to develop the trailer brake pressure to a preset level ahead of the braking pressure in the tractor brake system during a pilot phase of brake operation. The preset level of this advance trailer brake pressure can be selected by an adjustable member that forms a part of the auxiliary valving that controls the point at which the pilot phase of operation is terminated. A limit stop is cooperatively arranged with this adjustable member in order to provide a means for limiting the point beyond which the auxiliary valving is activated, to thereby prevent the advance trailer brake pressure from exceeding a specified safe maximum value.
