摘要： A two-step roller finger follower having a high-lift follower portion that rotates relative to a low-lift follower portion about a pivot shaft, including a lost-motion compression spring disposed in a linear bore formed in the high-lift portion to exert force against an curved pad on the back side of the valve pallet of the low-lift portion. The spring is retained and guided in its bore by a spring retainer having a planar bottom for engaging the curved pad. Preferably the retainer is a cup positioned in the spring bore such that the stroke of the cup is limited, to prevent leak-down of the associated hydraulic lash adjuster. Driving the spring by a linear-acting retainer in a linear bore causes the spring to be compressed linearly, resulting in a highly stable and predictable spring rate.

摘要： A system for bringing an internal combustion engine to a stop at a predetermined angular position of an engine shaft, such as a crankshaft or a camshaft, with respect to the engine's valves. The optimum shaft stop position is the point wherein the fewest lifters are collapsed the least amount. Exemplary methods and apparatus include using the engine starter motor to jog the stopped engine to the desired position; using the engine alternator to impose a variable electromagnetic load on the engine to bring the engine to a stop at the desired position; using variable firing of cylinders to control the deceleration profile to bring the engine to a stop at the desired position; and providing one or more detents formed in the shaft and using a shaft follower to control the stop position of the shaft by engaging the follower into a detent.

摘要： An occupant detection system and method that uses an isolation assembly to isolate electrically a power supply providing power to a heater element for heating a vehicle seat from a sensing circuit that uses the heater element as an electrode for electric field or capacitance type occupant detection. The isolation assembly includes a common mode choke that by itself provides sufficient isolation when the sensing circuit excitation signal frequency is high enough, and provides switches that infrequently interrupt electrical power to the heater element so a humidity level can be determined using a relatively low excitation signal frequency. Knowing the humidity level is desirable to adjust a threshold use to determine if the sensing circuit indicates that the seat is empty, or is occupied.

摘要： A computer system determines a first criticality relating to frequency of execution of computer programs, a second criticality relating to frequency of execution of transactions, a third criticality relating to a number of users who execute the transactions, a fourth criticality relating to programs that modify the database tables having a large change in data, and a fifth criticality relating to the amount to time that each computer program is executed and the amount of time that each transaction is executed. The system determines intersections among the criticalities, and assigns a weighted value to each of the intersections. The system determines an overall criticality for a particular computer program or a particular transaction. The overall criticality is a function of the number of intersections in which the particular computer program or the particular transaction appears and the weighted values assigned to the intersections.
