    摘要: A thin-film magnetic head comprising a lower magnetic core formed on a substrate, an upper magnetic core formed on the lower magnetic core with a magnetic gap therebetween, and a coil interposed between the lower magnetic core and the upper magnetic core as insulated from the lower magnetic core and the upper magnetic core, characterized in that at least either of the lower magnetic core and the upper magnetic core comprises a front body of a magnetic pole facing a magnetic recording medium and a rear body of a magnetic pole having part thereof superposed on the front body of the magnetic pole, the rear body of the magnetic pole is disposed as recessed from the head surface facing the medium and held in contact with the front body of the magnetic pole in a plane, the plane is terminated at a rear of the end of the front body of the magnetic pole, and the rear body of the magnetic pole has a shape curved or bent in the direction opposite to the magnetic gap, and further the front body of the magnetic pole is composed of a magnetic member embedded in a trench formed in advance in an insulating layer.

    摘要: A magneto-resistance effect head records and reproduces recorded magnetic material. The magneto-resistance effect head has a magneto-resistance effect film connected to a pair of leads. Additionally, a magnetic yoke, with a first and second magnetic yoke member, directs a signal magnetic field from a recording medium to the magneto-resistance effect film. The magneto-resistance effect head is constructed such that the first and second magnetic yoke members have surfaces that face the recording medium. The surfaces of the first and second magnetic yoke members have a magnetic gap between them. Additionally, the magneto-resistance effect film is recessed from the medium facing surfaces by a predetermined distance. Moreover, the first and second magnetic yoke members are aligned almost in parallel with the magnetic flux flow from the recording medium to the first magnetic yoke member, the magneto-resistance effect film, and the second magnetic yoke member.

    摘要: A method for manufacturing a magnetic head which includes a lower write pole having a projection, an upper write pole having a projection opposed to the projection of the lower write pole, and a magnetic gap interposed between the projection of the upper write pole and the projection of the lower write pole, comprising: a first step of making the magnetic gap on the projection of the lower write pole; a second step of making a non-magnetic material layer on the lower write pole, the non-magnetic material layer having a projection on its top surface in positional alignment with the projection of the lower write pole; a third step of making a mask layer on the non-magnetic material layer, the mask layer having an opening in which the top surface of the projection of the non-magnetic material layer is exposed; a fourth step of making a curved recess in the non-magnetic material layer by isotropically etching the non-magnetic material layer through the opening of the mask layer; a fifth step of making an approximately tapered recess down from the bottom of the curved recess by anisotropically etching the non-magnetic material layer through the opening of the mask layer; and a sixth step of making the upper write pole by burying a magnetic material in the tapered recess and the curved recess is provided.

    摘要: A thin film magnetic head has a reproducing element or/and recording element which is held from the direction of its thickness between a first ceramic substrate and a second ceramic substrate. The reproducing element or/and recording element is positioned at substantially the center with respect to the direction of track width. The first and second ceramic substrates hold the reproducing element or/and recording element from, for example, the direction of track width. The reproducing element or/and recording element is provided with a yoke type reproducing part which has at least one pair of magnetic cores with a magnetic gap therebetween on the side of a medium opposed face and a magnetoresistance effect element to which a signal magnetic flux from a magnetic recording medium is led through the pair of magnetic cores. Heat due to a sense current and heat due to the contact between the reproducing element or/and recording element and the magnetic recording medium are efficiently dissipated to the first and second ceramic substrates, thereby retarding a temperature increase of the reproducing element or/and recording element. Abrasion in the neighborhood of the reproducing element or/and recording element is retarded by the first and second ceramic substrates. A magnetic recording apparatus is provided with a magnetic recording medium, and a magnetic head slider having the thin film magnetic head described above.
