摘要: A turbocharged internal combustion engine for a spark ignition internal combustion engine using gasoline as the fuel is disclosed. An intake system is constructed for the generation of a homogeneous flow of the intake air. The turbocharger is constructed to obtain a ratio of a pressure at the output to the pressure at the input higher than at least 1.5. A lean combustible mixture is obtained at a high engine load or engine speed area whereat the turbocharger can obtain a full supercharging ability. A relationship between the degree of supercharging is such that the larger that value of the air-fuel ratio, the higher the intake pressure. A high fuel consumption efficiency is obtained while preventing an excessive increase of the exhaust gas temperature.

摘要: A sequential turbocharger system for an internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas recirculation system. The sequential system includes a large-volume turbocharger and a small-volume turbocharger, which are arranged in series in the direction of the flow of gases. A bypass passageway is connected to an exhaust pipe to thereby bypass the turbine of the small-volume turbocharger, and an exhaust switching valve is arranged in the bypass passageway for controlling the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine of the small-volume turbocharger. The EGR system includes an exhaust gas recirculation passageway for introducing an amount of exhaust gas into the intake pipe of the engine. The exhaust gas for recirculation is taken out from the intake pipe at a position located between the turbines of the small-volume and large-volume turbochargers.

摘要: An optical pickup includes a light source, a light converging portion for converging a light emitted from the light source on the recording surface of an optical disk, a signal detecting portion for detecting a light reflected by the recording surface and converting this light into a specified electric signal, a first optical element, which is arranged between the light source and the light converging portion for forming a plurality of diffracted lights from the light emitted from the light source, and a second optical element, which is arranged between the light source and the light converging portion and in which an optical path for the light reflected by the recording surface of the optical disk and an optical path for the emitted light are different from each other. Thus, without increasing the weight of a movable portion and also without increasing the manufacturing costs of a condenser lens, reproducing is performed from a high density optical disk and a conventional low density optical disk, which are different in standard.

摘要: An internal combustion engine according to the present invention includes an exhaust treatment apparatus provided in an exhaust passage, and a burner apparatus provided upstream of the exhaust treatment apparatus to increase an exhaust temperature. The burner apparatus includes at least a fuel addition valve that allows fuel to be added into exhaust and ignition means for igniting the fuel added via the fuel addition valve. The fuel addition valve is driven open when fuel is added via the fuel addition valve. The amount of fuel added via the fuel addition valve per unit time is increased beyond a predetermined reference amount when the detected amount of intake air exceeds a predetermined threshold value. The probability of successful ignition by the ignition apparatus is increased, and a flame is prevented from being blown out. Thus, the burner apparatus can demonstrate sufficient ignition performance and sufficient combustion performance.
