    摘要: A head support assembly for a disk drive is comprised of a head suspension assembly connected to an actuator arm at one end and supporting a head at the other end, wherein a projection is formed on a flexure closely fixed on a thin-plate load beam, said projection projecting toward a disk surface and having a smooth surface. The projection is formed at a region somewhat close to the head supporting end from the hinge portion of the load beam. When shock is applied to the disk drive, bending occurs around the hinge portion of the load beam. During such bending, the projection having a smooth round surface is caused to contact the disk, whereby the disk surface is prevented from being damaged.

    摘要: In a hard disk drive, power and signals are transferred through a flexible cable 42 between a carriage having a magnetic head reading magnetic information while the positioning of the magnetic head is controlled on a magnetic disk and a card provided on the lower surface of a base. The movable section 44 of the flexible cable 42 is supported by the carriage to follow the carriage. A nonmovable section 46 is bent so as to enclose a reinforcement plate 50 and installed on the base through the reinforcement plate 50. The reinforcement plate 50 is used as a reinforcement for installing an AE module 54 on the upper surface 52 thereof. The reinforcement plate is also used as a reinforcement for connecting a carriage connector 84 to the card 40 through the lower surface 60 thereof. The reinforcement plate is used for maintaining an attitude to maintain the attitude of the movable section 44 in the lateral direction on a surface 64 of thickness of the plate. One reinforcement plate is needed for performing these operations.

    摘要: A magnetic circuit is provided in an enclosure that can efficiently generate magnetic flux from the enclosure, configuring a magnetic disk, to a magnetic disk. Thus, by providing such a magnetic circuit, a magnetic field different from that in other enclosure parts, that is, a local magnetic field, is generated from the magnetic circuit in case the disk device is set in an external magnetic field. Hence, this local magnetic field can effectively erase data in the magnetic disk. In particular, since the local magnetic field is generated even if the external magnetic field is weak, it is possible to not only suppress the demagnetization of permanent magnets used in the spindle motor at minimum, but also effectively erase data in the magnetic disk.

    摘要: A portable, small magnetic disk drive to be mounted on a portable device operates silently at low power consumption. In one embodiment, a spindle motor is fixed to the bottom wall of a metal base plate formed in the shape of a box by press working. The spindle motor is provided with a fluid dynamic bearing (FDB). A spindle hub is supported on the FDB, and a small magnetic disk having a diameter of about 1.8 in. (45.7 mm) or below is mounted on the spindle hub and is fastened to the spindle hub with a top clamp. The rotating speed of the spindle motor is about 4200 rpm or below. Gram load for pressing a magnetic head toward the magnetic disk is about 0.5 gf or above and less than about 1.0 gf.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an inertial latch mechanism of an actuator of a thin disk drive device. An inertial latch mechanism comprises a latch lever rotatable on a pivot from a release position to a latch position, and an inertial lever which is rotatable on a pivot and has a moment of inertia larger than that of the latch lever. The inertial lever rotates counterclockwise when a counterclockwise shock is given to the actuator, and pulls the latch lever at a first latch part by a first latch projection to move the latch lever to the latch position. The inertial lever also rotates clockwise when a clockwise shock is given to the actuator, and pushes the latch lever at a second latch part by a second latch projection to latch the actuator which has bumped against a crash stop and is reversely rotating.

The nonmagnetic grooves are configured with a second uniform width.
