摘要: A method and apparatus for welding members formed of thermoplastic resin material, with high welding strength and small strength variations. A laser welding apparatus 1 brings a first member 2 formed of a transmissive thermoplastic resin that transmits a laser beam into contact with a second member 3 formed of an absorptive thermoplastic resin that absorbs the laser beam, and joins the thermoplastic resin members by melting their contact surfaces 4 with the laser beam. The laser welding apparatus 1 further comprises a laser beam generator 10 for irradiating the contact surfaces with the laser beam shone from the side of the first member 3 so as to melt at least one of the contact surfaces of the first member and the second member. The apparatus also comprises a clamp mechanism 20 for pressing the first member and the second member together, a temperature sensor 31 as an adjusting means for adjusting the pressing force applied to the first member and the second member, and a personal computer 32 for calculating the pressing force based on the output of the temperature sensor. The clamp mechanism is controlled with the calculated pressing force.

摘要: A method and apparatus for laser welding, whereby high welding strength, a low degree of variation in strength, and lack of occurrence of burrs can be achieved when two members formed of thermoplastic resin material are welded, are provided. In a laser welding apparatus 1, contact surfaces 4 of a first member 2 formed of transmissive thermoplastic resin that transmits a laser beam and a second member 3 formed of absorptive thermoplastic resin that absorbs a laser beam are joined by melting via laser beam R. The apparatus is equipped with a casing 5 that accommodates the first member and the second member, a vacuum pump 6 that reduces the pressure inside the casing, and a laser beam generator 10, whereby at least one of the contact surfaces of the first member and the second member becomes melted. In the apparatus, the first member and the second member are made to come into contact with each other under a reduced pressure atmosphere, and contact surfaces of the two members are irradiated with laser beam R from the side of the first member that transmits laser beam.

摘要: A method and apparatus for laser welding two members made of thermoplastic resin material whereby high welding strength can be achieved and strength variations can be reduced. A first member 2 comprised of a transmissive thermoplastic resin that transmits a laser beam is brought into contact with a second member 3 comprised of an absorptive thermoplastic resin that absorbs a laser beam. Contact surfaces 4 are melted with a laser beam so as to join the two members. At least the contact surfaces 4 of the two members are pre-heated by a pre-heating means 20 at a temperature lower than the melting temperature of the contact surfaces. The contact surfaces 4 are then irradiated with a laser beam R generated by a laser beam generator 10 that is shone from the side of the first member so as to melt at least one of the contact surfaces of the two members. The melted portion is then post-heated by a post-heating means 20A at a temperature lower than the melting temperature of the melted portion, thereby allowing the melted portion to slowly cool down. The pre-heating and the post-heating are preferably conducted at temperatures above the glass transition temperature of the two members.

摘要: A method and apparatus for laser welding two members made of thermoplastic resin material whereby high welding strength can be achieved and strength variations can be reduced. A first member 2 comprised of a transmissive thermoplastic resin that transmits a laser beam is brought into contact with a second member 3 comprised of an absorptive thermoplastic resin that absorbs a laser beam. Contact surfaces 4 are melted with a laser beam so as to join the two members. At least the contact surfaces 4 of the two members are pre-heated by a pre-heating means 20 at a temperature lower than the melting temperature of the contact surfaces. The contact surfaces 4 are then irradiated with a laser beam R generated by a laser beam generator 10 that is shone from the side of the first member so as to melt at least one of the contact surfaces of the two members. The melted portion is then post-heated by a post-heating means 20A at a temperature lower than the melting temperature of the melted portion, thereby allowing the melted portion to slowly cool down. The pre-heating and the post-heating are preferably conducted at temperatures above the glass transition temperature of the two members.
