An electrically heated sole plate is disposed internally of said housing for creating heat at said open bottom of said housing. And a motor and a fan with filters are disposed internally of said housing between the first and second filters for creating a suction within said housing drawing smoke and fumes created during the carpet seaming operation through the open bottom into the housing for filtration by the first and second filters before discharge through a vent head to the ambient atmosphere.

    摘要: This invention relates to liners containing contaminants, such as styrene, and to methods for lining pipes, such as sewer pipes with liners containing contaminants, such as styrene. In one embodiment, this invention provides a liner and lining method that reduces contamination of the ambient with contaminants from the liner and/or the lining process, such as styrene. In the case of sewers, the carrier pipes lined may be, for example, PVC, clay or concrete, but pipes of metal or other materials, such as asbestos, may also be lined with the liner and lining method of this invention.

    摘要: A method of forming plastic containers is disclosed. The method includes: providing a support platen having a cut outline and a groove outline in the top surface of the support platen and a plurality of exhaust ports in the bottom of the groove, where a plurality of spaced perforations are in the top surface of the support platen, where the groove is configured to define a cut outline; positioning a first film on the top surface of the support platen; providing a laser to cut the first film along the cut outline of the top surface of the support platen; providing a second film on top of the first film; connecting the plurality of exhaust ports and the plurality of space perforations to a vacuum source to secure the first film to the support platen; directing a jet of gas onto the second film at the to maintain the second sheet in contact with the first sheet at a seam during welding concentric with a beam from the laser to weld the first film and the second film; moving the laser and the support platen relative to each other to weld the first film and the second film along a seam outline; and providing the laser to cut the first film and the second film along the cut outline to provide a trimmed bag.

    摘要: There is disclosed a strapping machine for applying a plastic strap around an object, tensioning the strap and heat-sealing together overlapping portions of the strap, including a retractable heating member movable between the overlapping strap portions and a pressure-applying means including a pressure block with a tiltable universal joint coupling for pressing the overlapping strap portions against the heating element with a first relatively light pressure to melt the facing surfaces thereof. The heating element is withdrawn while the pressure-applying means presses the strap thereagainst with the first pressure, and then the melted strap portions are pressed together with a strong second pressure to complete the seal. A cam with a yieldable section controls the first pressure and a compression spring controls the second pressure. While retracted, the heating element is raised to a higher temperature for burn-off of strap residues. Switch means disposed in the strap path provide a positive stop to prevent strap overfeed while a yieldable track section permits escape of excess strap from the path to prevent jamming. Air filter means remove waste products of the heat-sealing operation.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for cutting and heat sealing the ends of lengths of woven thermoplastic material is disclosed with the apparatus including selectively activated means for feeding predetermined lengths of a material from a supply across the supporting surface. Means releasably clamp the material lengths against the supporting surface, with a gap extending transversely of the material lengths to expose portions of the material through the gap. A laser beam is directed against the exposed portions of the material, with the laser beam being moved transversely of that material along the gap and removing the material exposed to the laser beam and heat sealing the portions of the material immediately adjacent that removed.
