摘要: A speed variable moving sidewalk for conveying passengers includes an endless circulating path having inverting sections, a high-speed section and speed variable sections, and a large number of treadboards moving along the circulating path. Each treadboard can move independently as being guided by guide rails and has hooks on its underside which engage shafts of a driving chain for inverting section. The treadboard further has hooks on its underside which engage shafts of a rack chain in order to be driven in the high-speed section and a roller for transversely sliding relative to the neighboring treadboard. A handrail mechanism for the speed variable moving sidewalk includes: with the total length of the moving sidewalk being divided into plural portions, a multiple-number of independent moving handrail portions for allowing passengers to hold thereon, being arranged for the respective portions of the sidewalk while all of the moving handrail portions are arranged without overlapping with one another.

摘要: With respect to a digital modulation signal outputted from an output terminal, in order to enable desired carrier leak characteristics to be compatible with desired mutual modulation distortion characteristics according to a measurement object, a first level varying member is provided between an amplifier and an output terminal. In addition, a second level varying member is provided between a base band signal generator and an orthogonal modulator. The first and second level varying members are respectively set to be predetermined attenuation quantity values based on an output level value of a digital modulation signal specified by an output level specifying member and the judgment result caused by a judgment portion.

摘要: An apparatus for recovering oil has a bucket for skimming and collecting water and oil floating on the surface of the water. The bucket has a base plate having apertures for draining water collected by the bucket. The apertures have a preselected diameter and length to allow separation of the oil and water utilizing differences in specific gravities and viscosities of the oil and water so that the oil can be discharged from the bucket into an oil recovery tank after the water drains out of the bucket through the apertures but before the oil begins to drain out of the apertures.

摘要: Animal cells are cultured while embedded in a collagen gel. The gel containing cells is formed by dispersing animal cells in a collagen solution, placing a drop (or drops) of the cell-containing collagen solution on a support surface and allowing the drop to gel to fix on the surface as a globular collagen gel having a convex surface. The cells are cultured by contacting the gel with a culture medium that may be serum-free or contain dextran sulfate. The drop preferably contains about 3 to about 300 microliters of the collagen solution and is about 2 mm or less in height. The cells may be precultured on a support surface having a collagen layer, released from the collagen layer by treatment with collagenase and dispersed in the collagen solution. The cells can be evaluated after culturing by staining such as with neutral red, or with fluorescein diacetate and irradiating, or by photographing cells in the collagen gel. The support surface can be a continuous ridge forming a recessed area and the drop of collagen solution is placed in the recessed area. Cancer cells can be cultured to test for sensitivity to an anticancer agent. The interaction of cells can be observed in co-culture tests where different kinds of cells are cultured simultaneously. Culturing in a drop enables using a small amount of animal cells sampled from tissue.

摘要: To output desired high purity signals, a frequency synthesizer was made to synthesize reference signals from a first and second signal generators in the same frequency band as a desired frequency band. Thereby, the resolution of the frequency synthesizer becomes twice the step .DELTA.F. Also, the frequency synthesizer can interpolate the step size of the first signal generator with half the number of steps. While, heretofore, the 100 MHz step size was interpolated with Fq=0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 MHz, Fq=0, 20, 40 MHz interpolation is made possible. This permits the synthesis of 580 MHz to 1280 MHz. In this case, however, the minimum difference between the sum and difference frequencies from the first and second signal generators is 40 MHz and the lowest frequency is 20 MHz. Thus, depending on mixer isolation, the spurious measures become difficult. The frequency synthesizer of the present invention pays attention to the fact that 20 MHz step signals can be synthesized at frequencies which are integral multiples of Fq (multiples of 0 and 5 are excluded). When two-fold Fq is used, the minimum difference between the sum and difference frequencies output from a mixer is 80 MHz and the lowest used frequency is 40 MHz. The spurious measures by a PLL circuit becomes easy. A frequency detector forces the free-running frequency of a VCO included the PLL circuit. Control Data P and Q to the first and second signal generators are supplied from a control section based on data Fi set by a frequency setting section.

摘要: An adjacent vehicle approach prohibition region is set before and after a to-be-converged moving target (MT) on a main line with reference to the to-be-converged MT. The to-be-converged MT corresponds to a converging MT assigned to a converging vehicle which is about to enter and converge onto the main line from a branch line. When a preceding non-MT-controlled vehicle or a following non-MT-controlled vehicle, which is a to-be-converged vehicle running on the main line onto which the converging vehicle is to converge, and which preceding or following vehicle is not subjected to a control by a MT method, has entered the adjacent vehicle approach prohibition region, the to-be-converged MT is accelerated/decelerated, whereby the entering to-be-converged vehicle is excluded from the adjacent vehicle approach prohibition region.
