    摘要: To provide a novel herbicide-resistance gene and a plant imparted a resistance to herbicides by using this gene, a plant having a resistance to herbicides is constructed by transforming a plant cell by a DNA encoding the following protein (A) or (B) and then regenerating the thus transformed plant cell in a plant. (A) A protein having the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2. (B) A protein having an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2 including substitution, deletion, insertion or addition of one or plural amino acids and having a herbicide-resistant activity.

    摘要: A DNA encoding a phosphinothricin acetyltransferase protein obtained from Streptomyces sp. AB3534 strain is described which imparts a resistance to herbicides, particularly the herbicide phosphinothricin (PPT). Plants having a herbicide resistance are constructed by transforming a plant cell with DNA encoding the phosphinothricin acetyltransferase protein and then regenerating the transformed plant cell into a plant. A recombinant protein having the herbicide-resistant activity is also described.

    摘要: A DNA sequence is provided, which encodes an enzyme that is the &agr;-subunit of the first isozyme of rice anthranilate synthase (ASA). Transformed plants having a high tryptophan content can be regenerated by culturing the plant cells having introduced therein such a recombinant vector which contains, at a position downstream of a promoter, an inserted DNA fragment carrying the above DNA sequence. In addition, methods of selecting transformed plant cells are disclosed, wherein plant cells transformed with the discloses DNA are resistant to inhibitory concentrations of tryptophan or tryptophan analogues.

    摘要: In accordance with this invention, there is provided a DNA sequence which can encode an enzyme protein functioning as the rice dihydrodipicolinate synthase (DHDPS). One example of the DNA sequence according to this invention is the DNA having the nucleotide sequence shown in SEQ ID No. 1 of Sequence Listing. Additionally, this invention provides the DNA having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID No. 5, as well as the DNA having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID No. 7 of Sequence Listing, as the DNA which is capable of encoding the protein having the DHDPS activity. When cultivation is made of the plant cells in which there has been introduced a recombinant vector having carried therein a DNA fragment containing the DNA of this invention as inserted at downstream of the promoter of said recombinant vector, it is feasible to regenerate from said plant cells a transgenic plant having a high lysine content.

    摘要: A plant having improved heat tolerance and/or increased growth is produced by steps of: introducing DNA into a plant cell to produce a transformed plant cell, wherein the DNA is selected from the group consisting of: (a) DNA coding for a protein consisting of the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2, (b) DNA including the coding region of the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1, (c) DNA coding for a protein having an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2 in which one or a few amino acids are substituted, deleted, inserted, and/or added, and being involved in growth promoting effect and heat tolerance, (d) DNA hybridizing with DNA consisting of the nucleotide sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 1 under stringent conditions and coding for a protein which is involved in growth promoting effect and heat tolerance, and (e) DNA coding for a protein having an amino acid sequence having 90% or more identity with the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2 and being involved in growth promoting effects, heat tolerance, drought tolerance and salt tolerance; and regenerating a transformed plant from the transformed plant cell.
