摘要:
An electron-beam cured poly(arylene ether) composition exhibits an excellent balance of flexibility, chemical resistance, and resistivity per unit volume. The chemical resistance of the composition is substantially improved by electron beam curing. The electron-beam cured poly(arylene ether) composition is useful for the fabrication of extruded articles, including insulation for automotive wire and cable.

Disclosed herein is covered conductors with a normal to large conductor cross-section area (AWG 5 to AWG 24). The thickness of the coating can be, for example, 0.25 to 8.0 millimeter (mm). Also disclosed are a thermoplastic composition comprising a poly(arylene ether) having an intrinsic viscosity greater than 0.25 dl/g as measured in chloroform at 25° C., a styrenic resin, a polyolefin resin, and optionally a flame retardant, a compatibilizer, or a combination of a flame retardant and a compatibilizer. The coating comprises the thermoplastic composition described above.

A covered conductor comprising: a conductor; and a covering comprising a thermoplastic composition and the thermoplastic composition comprises: a poly(arylene ether) having an intrinsic viscosity greater than 0.25 dl/g as measured in chloroform at 25° C., a poly(alkenyl aromatic)polymer, a polyolefin resin and optionally a flame retardant and a compatibilizer, wherein the covered conductor essentially meets the performance requirement of ISO 6722, wherein the covering is disposed over the conductor, wherein the conductor has a cross section that meets as least one of following: (i) American Wire Gauge (AWG) from AWG 56 to AWG 26, (ii) a cross-section area from 0.000122 to 0.128 mm2 (corresponding to AWG 56 to AWG 26 according to ASTM B256-02); (iii) a nominal diameter from 0.0124 to 0.404 mm (corresponding to AWG 56 to AWG 26 according to UL 1581, 4th edition, Table 20.1). The covering of the covered conductor has a thickness from about 0.010 to about 0.85 mm. An automotive wire harness assembly comprises the covered conductor. An “end use equipment” comprises the wire assembly.

Injection molded articles having large, thin sections are prepared by injection molding of a composition that includes specific amounts of poly(arylene ether) and a rubber-modified polystyrene. The specific component amounts provide the composition with a shear thinning index of 6 to 17 measured at a temperature of 260 to 300° C. and shear rates of 100 and 10,000 second−1.
摘要:
A black-colored plastic composition includes a poly(arylene ether), a polystyrene, and at least two organic dyes. The composition has a high gloss and a deep black color that is unexpectedly much more light stable that a comparable black-color plastic using a carbon black pigment. The composition is useful in the manufacture of automotive interiors, and electronic equipment including consumer electronics and particularly television bezels.
