Abstract: An apparatus comprising a network interface card (NIC), including packet processing circuitry to determine whether the NIC is to operate according to a first telemetry protection mode to prevent copying of packet data payloads for telemetry or a second telemetry protection mode to enable copying of packet payloads for telemetry.

Abstract: Technologies for programming flexible accelerated network pipelines include a comping device with a network controller. The computing device loads a program binary file that includes a packet processing program and a requested hint section. The binary file may be an executable and linkable format (ELF) file with an extended Berkeley packet filter (eBPF) program. The computing device determines a hardware configuration for the network controller based on the requested offload hints and programs the network controller. The network controller processes network packets with the requested offloads, such as packet classification, hashing, checksums, traffic shaping, or other offloads. The network controller returns results of the offloads as hints in metadata. The packet processing program performs actions based on the metadata, such as forwarding, dropping, packet modification, or other actions. The computing device may compile an eBPF source file to generate the binary file. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

TRAFFIC RATE LIMITING FOR VMs WITH MULTIPLE VIRTUAL FUNCTIONS

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for rate limiting network traffic generated by virtual machines (VMs) having multiple attached SR-IOV virtual functions. The network interface circuitry includes a plurality of offload circuits, each performing operations associated with a specific VF. Each VM attached to network interface circuitry is assigned a unique identifier. The unique identifier associated with a VM is inserted into the header of data packets originated by the VM. The packets are queued using a dedicated memory queue assigned to the VM. The aggregate data transfer rate for the VM is determined based upon counting the data packets originated by the VM and processed across the plurality of offload circuits. If the aggregate data transfer rate exceeds a data transfer rate threshold, traffic control circuitry limits the transfer of data packets from the memory queue associated with the VM to the plurality of offload circuits.

Abstract: Technologies for remote direct memory access (RDMA) queue pair quality of service (QoS) management are disclosed. In the illustrative embodiment, several queue pairs associated with a virtual machine on a compute sled may be created in a network interface controller of the compute sled. A QoS parameter such as a class of service identifier or a weighting may be assigned to each queue pair such that each queue pair has a different available bandwidth. The compute sled may also predict future RDMA queue pair bandwidth usage and adjust RDMA queue pair bandwidth allocation based on the prediction.
