Abstract:
Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for determining an encryption technique for a modified data object to backup. Deep data inspection is performed on an object using a natural language processing module to determine facets for the object. The facets provide facet values for instances of sensitive information in the object. The facet values for the object are processed to determine a cumulative facet value. A determination is made of an encryption technique comprising one of a plurality of different encryption techniques to use on the object based on the cumulative facet value. The determined encryption technique is used to encrypt the object to transfer to a backup storage.
Abstract:
Embodiments for a system using a migration data placement tool between storage systems based on data access by a processor. Data may be cataloged in a migration data placement tool by receiving events from a plurality of heterogeneous storage systems. The events may be migrated into the migration data placement tool using analytics to determine data placement of the data in a target storage system according to the data identified as hot data, warm data, or cold data. The data may be placed according to the migration template during migration to the target storage system.
Abstract:
Dynamically reuse from a global pool of allocated resources an existing Flashcopy target volume containing an older Flashcopy backup and a consistency group for one of a mount operation, a restore operation, and a clone operation when dynamically allocating a new Flashcopy target volume for the new Flashcopy backup.
Abstract:
Dynamically creates a cloned target volume by cloning a production volume without breaking a Flashcopy chain for continuing an ingestion of a FlashCopy backup target volume.
Abstract:
Various method, system, and computer program product embodiments for facilitating upgrades in a computing storage environment are provided. In one such embodiment, one of an available plurality of rolling upgrade policies is defined by specifying the at least one selectable upgrade parameter, including specifying one of a commencement time and duration of an upgrade procedure. A node down tolerance factor is set for at least one node in the computing storage environment. The node down tolerance factor specifies a percentage of elements of the at least one node taken offline to apply the selected one of the available plurality of rolling upgrade policies during the upgrade window.
Abstract:
For write cache protection of purpose built backup appliances in a computing environment, backup data of the write cache is created using a server memory that includes the write cache in a redundant array of independent disks (RAID) system. The server memory is not controlled by a failing RAID card and/or NVRAM card that controls the write cache. The backup data in the server memory is flushed to a persistent storage device subsequent to detecting a failure of the write cache for enabling recovery of the backup data using the persistent storage device during a reboot operation.
Abstract:
A dataset formatted in a first format is generated, wherein the dataset formatted in the first format includes at least a plurality of data elements that comprise data. A selection is made of machine learning framework, wherein the machine learning framework operates on datasets formatted in a second format that is different from the first format. The dataset is converted from the first format to the second format and links are generated from the converted dataset formatted in the second format to the plurality of data elements of the dataset formatted in the first format to avoid creating additional copies of the plurality of data elements.
Abstract:
Various embodiments for repository management in a data deduplication system, by a processor device, are provided. Metadata of an inode structure of an entire pre-allocated file system is captured, exported, and compressed from an existing deduplication appliance, the pre-allocated file system comprising a fully padded file system. The exported and compressed metadata of the pre-allocated file system is decompressed and imported into a data deduplication repository of a new deduplication appliance having an identical file system size as within the existing deduplication appliance, to initially configure or subsequently scale the inode structure of a file system of the data deduplication repository of the new deduplication appliance efficiently.
Abstract:
Various embodiments for repository management in a data deduplication system, by a processor device, are provided. Metadata of a pre-allocated file system is captured and exported. The exported metadata is then imported into a data deduplication repository for configuring the data deduplication repository with minimum overhead.
Abstract:
An application is used, by a processor, to provide directives to a tiered data object storage environment for manipulating and managing stored data objects by using an existing policy developed by a history of directives to intelligently estimate which of the data objects are to be migrated between a higher storage tier and a lower storage tier and at what appropriate time, while refraining from migrating data objects with a pending management operation.
