摘要: A prosthetic wrist having at least one of a radial insert, which is configured to be fixed to a radius of a patient, a carpal implant and a wrist bearing component. The carpal implant includes a body and a pair of flanges, each of which being skewed to the axis of the body in a manner that permits them to abut the ulnar side of the hamate bone and the radial side of the distal portion of the carpal bone complex, respectively. The radial insert may be provided with a plurality of modular portions to allow for selection and customization of an implant.

摘要: A prosthesis for placement relative to a carpal complex of a wrist can generally include a carpal implant having a body including an ulnar flange and a radial flange. The body can have a bone abutment surface and at least one flange extending from the bone abutment surface. The at least one flange can extend from the bone abutment surface a distance that spans at least one bone in an implanted position. The at least one flange can have a securing aperture that selectively receives a bone screw that advances into an identified bone of the carpal complex. A wrist bearing component can selectively mate with the carpal implant.

摘要: A method of implanting a prosthesis relative to a carpal complex of a wrist is provided. The method can include providing a carpal implant having a body including an ulnar flange and a radial flange, and locating a bone abutment surface of the ulnar flange against a triquetrum of the carpal complex. The method can also include locating a bone abutment surface of the radial flange against a scaphoid of the carpal complex, and locating a first dorsal flange extending from the ulnar flange against a posterior surface of the triquetrum.

摘要: A prosthesis for placement relative to a carpal complex of a wrist can generally include a carpal implant having a body including an ulnar flange and a radial flange. The body can have a bone abutment surface and at least one flange extending from the bone abutment surface. The at least one flange can extend from the bone abutment surface a distance that spans at least one bone in an implanted position. The at least one flange can have a securing aperture that selectively receives a bone screw that advances into an identified bone of the carpal complex. A wrist bearing component can selectively mate with the carpal implant.

摘要: A prosthetic wrist having a radial insert, which is configured to be fixed to the resected radius of a patient, a carpal implant and a wrist bearing component. The carpal implant includes a body and a pair of flanges, each of which being skewed to the axis of the body in a manner that permits them to abut the ulnar side of the hamate bone and the radial side of the distal portion of the carpal bone complex, respectively. The wrist bearing component may include a bearing surface for contacting the radial insert that is defined by different radii in the coronal and sagittal planes and an alignment mechanism may be employed to fix the wrist bearing component in a desired orientation.

摘要: A method and apparatus for replacing a selected portion of the anatomy is described. In particular, a prosthesis can be provided to replace a portion of an articulating joint, such as an elbow. The apparatus can be modular for various reasons and each of the modular portions can include a different dimension to achieve a selected result. For example, the prosthesis can achieve a different size condylar replacement, a selected offset, a selected articulation, or combinations thereof.

摘要: A prosthetic joint kit, particularly well suited for an elbow, transmits load through the prosthetic joint through a pair of spherically shaped bearing surfaces so as to transmit load over a relatively large area rather than at a point or over a line of contact. The prosthetic joint kit may be configured in a modular manner wherein a plurality of interchangeable stem structures, bearing structures and/or bearing inserts of various types are available. Construction in this manner enables a surgeon to configure the prosthetic joint to best suit the needs of the patient. For example, the surgeon may employ a modular flange for compressing a bone graft, a tissue fastener for securing soft tissue to a portion of the prosthetic joint, a cam for limiting the amount by which the prosthetic joint articulates or a bearing insert for tailoring the degree of varus/valgus constraint.
