摘要: An arthroplasty system may include a first prosthesis to be fixed to a first bone of a joint, a second prosthesis to be fixed to a second bone of the joint for articulation with the first prosthesis, and one or more adapters to be fixed to the first prosthesis for articulation with the second prosthesis to modify the stability of the second prosthesis relative to the first prosthesis. The system may include one or more articular inserts to be coupled to the second prosthesis for articulation with the first prosthesis and/or the adapter(s). The articular inserts may be fixed or mobile bearing relative to the second prosthesis. Each adapter and corresponding articular insert may modify stability differently.

摘要: Various embodiments of an expandable interbody cage device configured to reduce subsidence into an endplate of a vertebral body by including a plurality of arms that engage the cortical tissue of the vertebral body. The plurality of arms increase the surface area and improve distribution of force, especially around stronger parts of the endplate such as the cortical bone at the rim of the endplate. The expandable interbody cage device maintains a low or slim profile while in a “closed” configuration during insertion between vertebrae and is further operable to laterally expand into an “open” configuration that increases the surface area of the expandable interbody cage device after insertion to securely engage the expandable interbody cage device between the vertebra. The expandable interbody cage device further includes one or more ports and/or cavities in which bone graft material can be disposed within.

摘要: Universal joint implant includes an artificial glenohumeral component having articulating surfaces. The artificial glenohumeral component can include a first portion for articulation against an artificial glenoid surface or natural glenoid of the patient, and second portion(s) for articulation against an artificial humeral surface or resected, natural humerus; and a universal joint connection. The connection includes a yoke to provide for a center of movement generally within or adjacent a volume defined by an upper head of a normal humerus, which otherwise would be resected; and a substantially spheroidal body, at least in part, dissected, yet connected to provide the yoke; a body pivotable with respect to the yoke for providing motion in a first direction; a rotatable glenoid fixing member, rotatably fixable about the artificial glenoid surface or natural or resected glenoid; and a rotatable humeral fixing member, rotatably fixable about the artificial humeral surface or resected humerus.

摘要: An orthopedic drill bit includes a cutting head formed to include diametrically opposed cutting lips leading to a central point and away to a radiused periphery to center said bit. The drill includes flutes extending from a cutting end, said flutes having a dulled periphery to prevent out of round holes. The flute design increases in width progressively from the tip up the shank, to maintain an adequate and unrestricted space for chips to easily move upward, preventing the chips from being compressed into a smaller opening while maintaining the tapered depth of the flutes for strength.

摘要: The embodiments provide various interbody fusion spacers, or cages, for insertion between adjacent vertebrae. The cages may contain an articulating joint to allow expansion and angular adjustment, and enable upper and lower plate components to move relative to one another. The cages may have a first, insertion configuration characterized by a reduced size at each of their insertion ends to facilitate insertion through a narrow access passage and into the intervertebral space. In their second, expanded configuration, the cages are able to maintain the proper disc height and stabilize the spine by restoring sagittal balance and alignment. The intervertebral cages are able to adjust the angle of lordosis, and can accommodate larger lodortic angles in their second, expanded configuration. Further, these cages may promote fusion to further enhance spine stability by immobilizing the adjacent vertebral bodies.

The method produces polymeric components suitable for implantation with a structure and mechanical properties close to those of natural bone tissue. In a variant, method for making an implant or component thereof includes forming a standard shape foamed blank, and over-molding a thin layer of non-foamed PEEK material onto the standard shaped foamed blank to obtain a final implant component geometry, whereby the blank is completely encapsulated by the over-molded layer.
