    摘要: A method of forming a box-like acoustical substrate is provided. Portions of an acoustical substrate having a decorative surface are compressed to form a flange, a first compressed region, a second compressed region, and a third compressed region. First, second, central, and third uncompressed regions are positioned respectively adjacent to the compressed regions. A left first surface and a right first surface of the acoustical substrate may be folded toward the back surface of the substrate until the second compressed region and the third compressed regions are flush with the central uncompressed region. An outer portion of the left surface may then be folded towards the back surface until the flange is flush with the right edge. The acoustical product may be used as an acoustical trap or duct. When the acoustical product is utilized as a duct, an air impermeable sheet may be positioned on the external surface.

    摘要: A rotary cutting apparatus includes a support assembly, a rotary cutter connected to the support assembly, and a slide pad connected to the rotary cutter. The rotary cutter is configured to cut low density fibrous material having an area of relatively heavier density and an area of relatively lighter density. The slide pad moves relative to and along an axial direction of the rotary cutter to compress the fibrous material to a desired compression when one of the areas of relatively heavier density and lighter density is proximate to the slide pad. As the fibrous material moves relative to the slide pad such that the other of the areas of relatively heavier density and lighter density is proximate to the slide pad, the slide pad moves along the axial direction, based on the density of the fibrous material proximate to the slide pad, to substantially maintain the desired compression of the fibrous material.

    摘要: The present invention involves the use of a braze preform (28) for sealing and maintaining a vacuum in an insulation vessel (10). The braze preform (28) comprises particles of a braze material that are at least partially sintered together and at least substantially free of a binder. An assembly is provided for use in a method of manufacturing a vacuum insulation vessel (10). The assembly comprises a metal jacket (12) defining an interior space (20) to be evacuated and one or more evacuation ports (24) formed through a wall of the jacket (12). The evacuation ports (24) provide an opening to the interior space (20). The sintered braze preform (28) is located adjacent to the evacuation ports (24) so as to seal the evacuation ports (24) upon the melting of the brazing material. After the interior space (20) of the jacket (12) is evacuated, the preform (28) can be melted and allowed to solidify and seal the evacuation ports (24). In this way a vacuum can be maintained in the interior space (20).
