    摘要: A stereoscopic image display system includes an image display screen for displaying images; a controller and a display driver circuit for causing left-eye images and right-eye images to be produced on the display screen in a format of image components which at any particular time define a left-eye image field interlaced with a right-eye image field; a shutter system having variable transparency shutter components positioned in front of the image display screen for defining a viewing position on the opposite side of the shutter system from the display screen. The transparency of the shutter components is controlled to attenuate the left-eye image field from view by the right eye of a viewer at the viewing position, to attenuate the right-eye image field from view by the left eye of the viewer, to enable view of the left-eye image field by the left eye of the viewer, and to enable view of the right-eye image field by the right eye of the viewer. The image components that define the left-eye image field are periodically interchanged with the image components that define the right-eye image field, and the respective transparencies of the shutter components are interchanged when the image components are interchanged so that each eye views an image having twice the resolution as would otherwise be provided. The shutter system includes a plurality of parallel arrays of variable transmittance elements for composing the shutter components.

    摘要: A hollow multi-layered container comprises: an outer layer including a label and an inner layer, which is injection molded. The label has a barrier material that impedes one or more substances that emanate from a product from penetrating through the label, and the label displays information related to the product. The inner layer and the barrier material of the outer layer are substantially coextensive. For a container having a sidewall and an inclined shoulder extending inward from the sidewall, the label includes a primary segment covering the sidewall of the container and a plurality of shoulder pads covering the shoulder in at least approximately contiguous alignment with adjacent said shoulder pads. A method of inserting an in-mold label for an injection molded product into the mold, comprises the steps of: (a) inserting the label partially into a cavity bounded by a cavity mold part so that one end of the label extends from the cavity; and (b) upon closing the mold, pushing the label fully into the cavity by pushing against the label with a mold part that is moved toward the cavity when the mold is closed so that when the label is fully within the cavity, the lateral edges of the label are aligned with each other.

    摘要: A hollow plastic product with a substantially tubular section, two open ends and a thread at the outside of one end of the product is removed from a core mold part by closing the threaded end of the molded product and injecting compressed air into the molded product to loosen the molded product from the core mold part. The threaded end of the product is closed by attaching a threaded closure having a matching thread onto the threaded end of the molded product. A robotic arm is used to robotically attach the threaded closure onto the threaded end of the product. The threaded closure is a plastic cap that injection molded in the injection molding system in which the product is injection molded, with the caps being injection molded at the same average rate as the products are injection molded.

    摘要: A control system causes arrangements of automobile components, such as the driver's seat, the steering wheel and one or more mirrors, to be adjusted to a plurality of different memorized preferred component arrangements in response to unique component-arrangement signals respectively received from a plurality of remote control devices. The unique component-arrangement signals are transmitted by the remote control devices together with an unlock-request signal that causes a keyless-entry system to unlock one or more doors of the automobile. The control system responds to a lock-request signal that causes the keyless-entry system to lock the doors by causing the driver's seat to be adjusted to a locked position that cannot be utilized for driving the automobile. A distance measuring system separately measures the distance over which the automobile is driven while respectively in at least some of the plurality of preferred component arrangements. The control system can also remotely turn on a personal computer and send a memorized login password thereto.

    摘要: A cable tie having a locking head and a strap terminating in a tip is formed by injecting plastic into a mold cavity defined by first and second mold parts. The first mold part includes head and tip regions respectively defining portions of the head and the tip. The first and second mold parts define a strap region for forming a portion of the strap that extends between the head and the tip. Upon initial separation of the mold parts, portions of the head and the tip are retained in the head and tip regions of the first mold part and a portion of the strap is retained in the second mold part to thereby remove the tip and the head from the second mold part and portions of the strap from the mold parts. Upon further separation of the mold parts some previously retained portions are thereby removed.

    摘要: The focus of variable-focus lenses in eyeglasses worn by a person is regulated in accordance with an indication of a spatial relationship of features of the person's eyes to provide an at least partially in-focus image of a feature at which the person is gazing.. The lenses are nematic liquid crystal display devices. Light reflected off of each of the person's eyes is detected to provide data indicating the respective dispositions of the person's eyes; and the combined data for both eyes is processed by a neural network in a computer to provide focus-control signals for setting the focus of each lens. At least partially in-focus images are also provided of features at which a person in gazing (a) through goggles of a three-dimensional virtual reality system, (b) on a monitor that perceptually simultaneously displays different features with different degrees of focus as though they were at different distances from a person viewing the monitor, (c) on a monitor displaying remotely generated images and (d) through a view finder of a camera.
