摘要: Flat materials made from a polymer with a backbone and side groups branching off the backbone (side group polymer), which polymer has the following structural features (1) to (3):(1) the side group polymer contains at least one photoinducibly configuration-changing side group;(2) the side group polymer contains at least one permanently conformationally anisotropic side group with high anisotropy of molecular polarisability which differs from (1);(3) the side group polymer contains flexible spacer groups between the backbone and the side groups (1) and (2);wherein the flat material in the glassy state of the side group polymers is optically isotropic, transparent, non-scattering and amorphous before irradiation and, after irradiation, is transparent and durably birefringent and dichroic due to a reversible, photoinduced alignment of the side groups (1) and (2) in the glassy state, may be purposefully modified in terms of their optical properties by the action of light.

摘要: The invention relates to polymer substrates which are provided with fluorescence features and in which photochemical fluorescence features, i.e. fluorescent structures, are produced by UV irradiation. Thus, fluorophores can be produced in polymer substrates with a low inherent fluorescence by means of suitable UV radiation, which fluorophores display a marked and detectable emission upon being excited with light of a suitable wavelength. If such an irradiation is implemented in a structured manner, emission patterns can be produced in this way in polymer substrates, which emission patterns can be applied for example as recovery grids in fluorescence microscopy. A further application field relates to product authentication which is made possible by the polymer substrates according to the invention provided with fluorescence features.

摘要: An occupant detection system and method that uses an isolation assembly to isolate electrically a power supply providing power to a heater element for heating a vehicle seat from a sensing circuit that uses the heater element as an electrode for electric field or capacitance type occupant detection. The isolation assembly includes a common mode choke that by itself provides sufficient isolation when the sensing circuit excitation signal frequency is high enough, and provides switches that infrequently interrupt electrical power to the heater element so a humidity level can be determined using a relatively low excitation signal frequency. Knowing the humidity level is desirable to adjust a threshold use to determine if the sensing circuit indicates that the seat is empty, or is occupied.

摘要: A computer system determines a first criticality relating to frequency of execution of computer programs, a second criticality relating to frequency of execution of transactions, a third criticality relating to a number of users who execute the transactions, a fourth criticality relating to programs that modify the database tables having a large change in data, and a fifth criticality relating to the amount to time that each computer program is executed and the amount of time that each transaction is executed. The system determines intersections among the criticalities, and assigns a weighted value to each of the intersections. The system determines an overall criticality for a particular computer program or a particular transaction. The overall criticality is a function of the number of intersections in which the particular computer program or the particular transaction appears and the weighted values assigned to the intersections.
