摘要: A method of forming mufti-phasic nano-objects involves the jetting of two or more different liquids in side-by-side capillaries thereby generating a composite liquid stream. The composite then exposed to a force field which causes the composite liquid stream to at least partially solidify into a nano-object. The method forms a nano-object having a number of morphologies such as rods, spheres, and fibers.

摘要: Multiphasic colorant nano-components (MPCs) having at least two phases and at least one colorant are provided. In certain aspects, the at least two phases are optically or visually distinct from one another. The MPCs can be used in various methods in various applications, such as visual, optical, and/or electronic displays, including in paints, inks, coatings, plastics, textiles, electronic display devices, pixels, or electronic paper. The MPCs are formed by methods of electrified jetting of polymers.

摘要: Methods for bonding include deposition an adhesion layer on at least one substrate using chemical vapor deposition. The two adhesion layers each have a reactive group that is complementary to the other, thus enabling strong adhesion between the bonded substrates. Devices include two substrates that can be adhered together by chemically depositing an adhesion layer on at least one substrate using chemical vapor deposition. 摘要: Reactive polymer coatings that undergo regioselective reactions with target biomolecules are provided. The polymers of the coatings are deposited via chemical vapor deposition and comprise one or more functional groups that exhibit regioselective bonding with a functional group or a target molecule. Such polymers include poly-xylylenes having functional groups such as alkynes or azides. The regioselective bonding of the reactive polymers provide stable immobilization of target molecules and/or ligands and can create biofunctional surfaces having a wide range of applications.

摘要: The present disclosure provides robust implantable micro-component electrodes that can be used in a variety of medical devices. The medical device may be a neural probe that can monitor or stimulate neural activity in an organism's brain, spine, nerves, or organs, for example. The micro-component electrode has a small physical profile, with ultra-thin dimensions, while having high strength and flexibility. The micro-electrode has an electrically conductive core material, e.g., carbon. The surface of the core material includes one or more electrically conductive regions coated with an electrically conductive material and one or more non-conductive regions having an electrically non-conductive biocompatible polymeric coating. Implantable devices having such micro-components are capable of implantation in an organism for very long durations.
