Abstract: Neuromuscular monitoring is described that uses a novel lead assembly and a monitor that can select the appropriate electrodes on the lead assembly and calibrate the stimulation signals applied to the patient through the lead assembly. The monitoring can also set a noise floor value to reduce the likelihood of an erroneous train of four ratio.

Abstract: Methods are provided for the fabrication of microneedles. Microneedles fabricated according to the herein described methods will generally be constructed of multiple lengths of wire winded together, brazed and further manipulated to include a reversible engagement feature. The subject microneedles may find use in a variety of applications and, among other purposes, the reversible engagement feature of such a microneedle may by employed in implanting an implantable device into a biological tissue. Also provided are methods of inserting an implantable device into a biological tissue having an outer membrane. The subject methods may include ablating a section of the outer membrane and inserting the implantable device through the ablated section of outer membrane, including e.g., where the implantable device is inserted using a microneedle including e.g., those microneedles for which methods of fabrication are provided herein.

Abstract: Microneedles for detecting targets are described. The microneedles may be made of a hydrogel and a probe coupled to the hydrogel for generating a measurable signal in the presence of the target. The hydrogel microneedles may be used for in-situ detection of targets, such as biomolecules found in interstitial fluid. Also described are methods or producing hydrogel microneedles, articles and apparatus comprising hydrogel microneedles, and methods and uses of the same. The hydrogel microneedles may be used for biosensing, such as in transdermal patches for detecting biomarkers in a subject. The biosensors may be used for continuous, real-time tracking of targets in-situ, without requiring further reagents or processing steps.

Abstract: An implanted neural micro interface device comprises microfilaments of various materials and forms embedded within a body. The microfilaments form interaction sites with surrounding neural tissue at their exit points from the implantable body. The body and filaments are configurable in a multitude of positions to provide increased engagement of a given neural tissue section as well as interaction and closed loop feedback between the microfilament sites.
