The formation of troublesome microfoams in aqueous lacquer and synthetic resin dispersions, particularly in gloss lacquers, is prevented by the addition of from 0.01 to 1.5% by weight of a silicone-free foam inhibitor mixture. These foam inhibitor mixtures contain (a) from 70 to 98% by weight of a liquid, branched C.sub.16 -C.sub.30 alcohol, (b) from 0.5 to 20% by weight of hard paraffin, and (c) from 0.05 to 5% by weight of hydrophobized finely divided silica, and, optionally, small quantities of other ingredients.

This invention relates to sulfonated lubricating agents for leather and furs. More specifically, this invention relates to a process for the production of sulfonated lubricating agent for leather and tanned furs consisting of the steps of:(a) sulfochlorinating higher fatty acids or esters of higher fatty acids having chain lengths of from 8 to 24 carbon atoms with chlorine and SO.sub.2 at a temperature of from about 20.degree. to 90.degree. Dispersion adjuvants are described comprising .beta.-hydroxyalkyl esters of the formula ##STR1## wherein the R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represent hydrogen or alkyl with 1 to 21 carbon atoms, in which at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is alkyl and the sum of the carbon atoms in R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 ranges from 6 to 22, and wherein R.sub.3 represents alkyl with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, optionally substituted with 1 to 2 hydroxyl groups and/or interrupted by 1 to 2 ether bridges, as well as the adducts of compounds of Formula I with alkylene oxides, preferably ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide. The dispersion adjuvants are coated on pigment and filler materials for paints and lacquers. The coating is applied before or during the dispersion of the materials in the paint or lacquer media or vehicle.
