    摘要: An ignition timing control system for an internal combustion engine includes an electronic control unit. In a transition state where an in-cylinder EGR rate varies, the unit calculates an ignition timing corresponding to the in-cylinder EGR rate by means of linear interpolation based on ignition timings for EGR and non-EGR operations determined from maps, sets a retard amount based on the ratio of the in-cylinder EGR rate to a target EGR rate, and performs ignition timing control based on a corrected ignition timing obtained by subtracting the retard amount from the calculated ignition timing, thus preventing occurrences of knocking due to excessively advanced ignition timing, and deteriorated fuel consumption and drivability.

The correlation value provider is operable to provide a correlation value correlated to a change amount of the air-fuel ratio caused by the change executor based on a driving condition of the engine. The adjuster is operable to adjust the correlation value based on a parameter indicative of a capability of the catalytic converter. The controller is operable to cause the change executor to execute the changing based on the adjusted correlation value.

    摘要: An engine control device for detecting misfire of an engine. Based on a detected crank angle of the engine, an angular velocity at a first crank angle at which the engine speed is close to a minimum within one combustion cycle of each cylinder is calculated as a pre-combustion angular velocity, and an angular velocity at a second crank angle at which the engine speed is close to a maximum within the same combustion cycle is calculated as a post-combustion angular velocity. An amount of rotation variation caused between the first and second crank angles is calculated based on the pre-combustion and post-combustion angular velocities of the same combustion cycle, and is compared with a predetermined misfire criterion to determine whether or not misfire has occurred. When misfire is detected, a required operation is performed, for example, a warning lamp is turned on or the fuel supply quantity is increased.

    摘要: In order to provide a metal gasket suitable for use for a flange made of synthetic resin, the metal gasket disposed between a resin flange and an aluminium flange is composed of two elastic metal plates, on each of which a half bead is formed, and which are superposed on each other to be jointed so that half beads are directed opposite to each other. Since bending in a state, where the gasket is tightened, can be suppressed to an extremely small value at a same level in the case where the flanges are tightened without gasket, it is possible to remove worsening in flatness (planarity) of the resin flange.

    摘要: A cylinder head for an in-cylinder injection spark-ignition type internal combustion engine is formed with an injection passage for providing communication between a fuel injection valve and a combustion chamber. The injection passage includes a first and second passage sections disposed on the fuel injection valve side and on the combustion chamber side. The first passage section is formed, for example, into a truncated cone shape or a right circular cylindrical shape so that the cross sectional area decreases toward the fuel injection valve side or the area is constant over its entire length. The second passage section is formed to have the cross sectional area which increases toward the combustion chamber side. The fuel injected from the fuel injection valve flows into the combustion chamber via the injection passage having a gradually increasing cross sectional area, so that turbulence of fuel spray due to sudden divergent flow does not occur, resulting in an improved fuel combustion efficiency. Also, a seal seating face is formed on the inner face of the first passage section. By using a seal jig having a shape complementary to the seal seating face, a pressure leak test of cylinder head and a fuel leak test of fuel system can be achieved reliably and easily.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder head having a pair of upright intake ports formed therein on opposite sides of a plug hole extending along a cylinder axis, and each intake port has an upstream-side upright part extending from the top face of the cylinder head along the cylinder axis and a downstream-side slanting part having an intake opening communicating with a combustion chamber on one side of an imaginary plane containing the cylinder axis. An upper opening of each intake port opening in the top face of the cylinder head has a peripheral edge extending along the peripheral edge of an upper opening of the plug hole, and the peripheral edge of the upstream-side upright part extends along the outer surface of a lash adjuster. When viewed in vertical section along the imaginary plane, the upstream-side upright part extends obliquely downward from the top face of the cylinder head in a direction away from the lash adjuster, and the downstream-side slanting part approaches the plug hole with decrease in distance to the combustion chamber and then extends parallel to the plug hole. The downstream-side slanting part, when viewed in vertical section perpendicular to the imaginary plane, extends away from the cylinder axis with decrease in distance to the intake opening. With the intake ports having the above overall shape and sectional shape, each intake port can be given a required cross-sectional area without increasing the dimensions of the engine, and makes it possible to form a proper intake air flow inside the combustion chamber.
