    摘要: The present invention provides a system and method for uniform coating of a substrate at high deposition rates by evaporating a coating material in a vacuum chamber. The system includes an evaporator having a heating crucible for containing a coating material to be evaporated and a generally planar heat source disposed so as to heat a surface of a coating material contained in the heating crucible. Preferably, the heat source is manufactured from a ceramic or intermetallic material and includes a first layer defining a first set of openings and a second layer defining a second set of openings wherein the second layer overlies the first layer and is spaced apart therefrom. The first and second sets of openings allow the evaporated coating material to pass therethrough for dispersion of the coating material in a deposition zone defined by a containment shield disposed above the heat source.

    摘要: A low-cost tactile feedback mouse device for providing haptic feedback to a user for enhancing interactions and manipulations in a graphical environment provided by a computer. The mouse device includes a sensor device able to detect the movement of the mouse in the planar workspace. An actuator is coupled to the housing of the mouse and applies an inertial force in a particular degree of freedom, preferably along an axis perpendicular to the planar workspace, where the inertial force is transmitted through the housing to the user. The actuator outputs the inertial force preferably by linearly moving an inertial mass along the Z-axis. The output force is correlated with interaction of a controlled graphical object, such as a cursor, with other graphical objects in a graphical environment displayed by the host computer. The inertial force can be a pulse, vibration, texture force, or other type of force.

A drive and tension control apparatus at least one of increments, maintains or decrements the speed of a driven take-off roll when the tension is out of a predetermined range of operation. A tension controller devices measures tension and determines whether the average tension for the moving threads is out-of-range relative to the predetermined tension values for the threads. Alarms and other indicators may also be used to determine the threads are at least one of broken, not moving and out-of-range for tension control.

    摘要: A flexure mechanism for an interface device that interfaces a user with a computer system. An interface device includes a manipulandum physically contacted by the user. A five-bar closed-loop mechanism is coupled to the manipulandum to provide two rotary degrees of freedom to the manipulandum. The mechanism includes members coupled to each other by flexible couplings allowing rotation of the members. In preferred embodiments, four or five of the members are coupled together by flexible couplings that allow bending, thereby forming a unitary piece, where the couplings are oriented along axes of rotation of the mechanism. A senor senses a position of the manipulandum outputs a sensor signal, and in some embodiments actuators are coupled to the mechanism to output a force to the manipulandum in particular degrees of freedom. The manipulandum can be a joystick handle or portion of a sphere, where the device in one embodiment can be a handheld gamepad or similar controller.

    摘要: A utility bag having a closure arrangement coupled with opposing first and second panels of the utility bag. The first closure member coupled to the first panel at about an entrance of the utility bag. The first closure member includes a pair of parallel bulbous elements which form a longitudinal channel parallel to the entrance of the utility bag. A second closure member includes a third bulbous element having an interfacing surface complementary with an interfacing surface of the longitudinal channel to form an overlapping closure arrangement. Counterpart strips of hook/loop fasteners coupled to complementary interfacing surfaces associated with the first and second closure members are used to maintain the utility bag in a closed state. The bulbous elements may be formed from deformable materials disposed in sleeves which surround the entrance to the utility bag.
