    摘要: An internal combustion engine comprising an intake duct and a turbocharger arranged in the intake duct. A primary throttle valve connected to the accelerator pedal is arranged in the intake duct located downstream of the turbocharger. A secondary throttle valve is arranged in the intake duct located downstream of the primary throttle valve. An auxiliary intake passage is branched off from the intake duct located between the primary and the secondary throttle valves and is connected to the intake passage located downstream of the secondary throttle valve. The secondary throttle valve is gradually closed from the full open position as the level of the vacuum or the positive pressure, which are produced in the intake duct located between the primary and the secondary throttle valves, is increased.

    摘要: A non-contact type seal device for a turbocharger in which lubricating oil is prevented from leaking into the compression chamber of the turbocharger over the entire range of rotational speeds thereof. The seal device of the invention includes a retainer mounted in a compression chamber of a housing of the turbocharger, a collar attached to a compressor wheel mounting portion of the rotor shaft of the turbocharger, and a ring provided on an inner peripheral surface of the retainer. An annular groove receiving the ring is formed in the outer peripheral surface of the collar. A first gap is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the collar and the inner peripheral surface of the retainer, while a second gap is formed between the inner surface of the annular groove and each of the inner and outer end surfaces of the ring. A threaded groove is formed in the inner peripheral surface of the retainer in opposition to the outer peripheral surface of the collar.

    摘要: An exhaust by-pass system in an internal combustion engine provided with a turbocharger. The turbocharger is the so-called twin entry type having a pair of scroll passageways connected to two groups of cylinders of the engine, respectively. By-pass passageways are formed in a housing of the turbine of the turbocharger. The by-pass passageways are connected to scroll passageways, respectively at positions near their inlets. The by-pass passageways are opened or closed by a common by-pass control valve arranged in a tubular boss portion of the housing.
