A butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer rubber (NBR) composition can be strongly adhered to a metal material by compounding (A) a halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon having the general formulaR.sub.n.sub.' --(Ar)--CX.sub.m H.sub. 3-m).sub.nOr ##STR1## WHEREIN Ar is benzene nucleus residue or naphthalene nucleus residue, R is a hydrocarbon residue having 1-6 carbon atoms, hydrogen atom or halogen atom, X is halogen atom, m is 1-3, n" is 1-3, when Ar is benzene nucleus residue, n is 1-6 and n' is 0-5 (provided that n+n'.ltoreq.6) and when Ar is naphthalene nucleus residue, n is 1-8 and n' is 0-7 (provided that n+n'.ltoreq.8), and (B) at least one compound selected from the oxides, carbonates, sulfides and hydroxides of metals of groups I, II, IV, V and VIII in the Periodic Table and aluminum hydroxide, to the NBR composition, contacting the resulting rubber composition to the metal material, and vulcanizing the rubber composition to adhere the composition to the metal material.

A vulcanizable rubber composition suitable for the production of rubber materials having improved scorching stability and heat aging resistance can be obtained by compounding raw material rubber with a sulfenamide compound having the following general formula ##EQU1## wherein X represents a residue selected from the group consisting of residues of hydrocarbon, alkyl ether and secondary alcohol having 2-20 carbon atoms, and residues represented by the general formulae ##EQU2## (wherein R' represents a residue of hydrocarbon or alkyl ether having 0-20 carbon atoms, and R" represents a hydrocarbon residue having 1-10 carbon atoms), and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are same or different and are selected from hydrocarbon residues having 2-10 carbon atoms, and hydrogen atom, or R.sub.1 is ringed with R.sub.2 and/or R.sub.3 is ringed with R.sub.4, through the nitrogen atom of the general formula (1), to form heterocyclic rings of 5-7 members.

This invention relates to an improvement of the adhesion of a metallic material such as copper, copper alloys and other metals coated therewith with a vulcanizable rubber composition. It is realized by previously adding orthoboric acid or a metal borate to the rubber composition in order to proceed with metal-rubber bonding reaction and vulcanization reaction in good balance, and vulcanizing an assembly of the metallic material and the boric compound containing rubber composition closely contacted therewith.

A paving asphalt concrete composition consists essentially of an oil-impregnated vulcanized rubber crumb and an asphalt-aggregate mixture, in which the oil-impregnated vulcanized rubber crumb consist of 99-60% by weight of vulcanized rubber crumb and 1-40% by weight of an extending oil. This paving asphalt concrete composition is suitable for pavement of motorways, sidewalks, runways, taxiways, parking lots and the like.
