    摘要: Disclosed is a proton exchange membrane for use in fuel cells, which not only has improved proton conductivity and resistance to swelling caused by hot water but also has greater durability when used in a fuel cell, as well as a sulfonic acid group-containing segmented block copolymer constituting the proton exchange membrane, a membrane electrode assembly using the proton exchange membrane, and a fuel cell using the membrane electrode assembly. A sulfonic acid group-containing segmented block copolymer, which is a di- or multi-block copolymer including, within a molecule, at least one kind of hydrophilic segment and at least one kind of hydrophobic segment, a 0.5 g/dL solution thereof dissolved in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone as a solvent showing a logarithmic viscosity measured at 30° C. in the range of 0.5 to 5.0 dL/g, wherein the copolymer has at least one kind of hydrophobic segment represented by Chemical Formula 1, the segment has a structure bound to a group represented by Chemical Formula 2, and the hydrophilic segment has at least one kind of structure represented by Chemical Formula 3 or Chemical Formula 3-2.

    摘要: Disclosed is an electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly wherein a hydrocarbon-based solid polymer electrolyte membrane is sandwiched between a pair of electrodes. In this electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly, the glass transition temperature of the electrolyte membrane in a dry state is not less than 160° C. and the maximum moisture content of the electrolyte membrane is 10-120%. By using such a hydrocarbon-based solid polymer electrolyte membrane, there can be obtained an electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly which is excellent in reliability and durability. Also disclosed are a fuel cell using such an electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly and a method for producing such an electrolyte membrane-electrode assembly.

    摘要: A proton exchange membrane is obtained which can give an excellent power generation characteristic when the membrane is applied to, in particular, a fuel cell wherein high-concentration methanol is used as a fuel. In the aromatic hydrocarbon based proton exchange membrane of the invention, the ion exchange capacity is set into the range of 0.6 to 1.3 meq/g. Moreover, the area swelling rate for a 30% by mass methanol aqueous solution at 40° C. is set into the range of 2 to 30%. Preferably, a sulfonic acid group is bonded to an aromatic ring of the aromatic hydrocarbon based polymer contained in the aromatic hydrocarbon based proton exchange film. Preferably, the aromatic hydrocarbon based polymer is a polyarylene ether based polymer.
