    摘要: A transmission device includes a casing elongated towards a power transfer aperture, a power output member rotatably supported in the aperture by a first bearing, and a power transfer shaft with an outer end rotationally coupled to the power output member and an inner part supported from the casing by a second bearing. The shaft has an axial aperture for receiving lubricating oil and a radial aperture communicating thereto for squirting out lubricating oil radially as the shaft revolves. An oil shield cover has a base mounted to the casing, an extension elongated under the shaft from the base towards the first bearing, an end wall reaching upwards from the end of the extension towards the shaft with the lowest point of its upper edge closely approached thereto at an axial position on the shaft at which its diameter is substantially less than where it is supported by the second bearing. The extension rises on either side of the shaft at least to the height of the lowest point of the upper edge of the end wall, and has an opening on its upper part corresponding to the radial aperture. A space for pooling lubricating oil ejected from the radial aperture is defined by the oil shield cover and the casing, and as lubricating oil accumulates therein it first can escape by overflowing over the end wall of the oil shield cover. The lubricating oil pool at this stage reaches high enough to wet the lower portion of the first bearing.

    摘要: A dog clutch construction is provided for selectively rotationally connecting or disconnecting two coaxially arranged shafts. The dog clutch includes teeth on each shaft which are axially juxtaposed to each other. A toothed sleeve is engaged over the teeth. The sleeve is axially movable from a first position located on only one set of teeth to a second position located on both sets of teeth. A new meshing process is provided for meshing the teeth of the sleeve with the other two sets of teeth. A means for axially driving the sleeve from the first position to the second position is also provided, including an annular power piston positioned coaxially with the sleeve and a mechanism for transmitting the driving movement of the piston to the sleeve. The mechanism for tansmitting the driving movement is also annular and uniformly engaging around the sleeve and incorporates an axial resiliency to soften the driving action of the piston particularly at the instant of the meshing of the teeth of the sleeve with the other two sets of teeth, while ensuring uniform driving of the sleeve over all peripheral portions thereof.

    摘要: In an overdrive planetary gear unit of an automatic transmission, a helical planetary pinion has its front portion cut to form an cutout portion and to have an axial-direction cross section asymmetrical in the direction of its rotation axis in order to uniformize, in the axial direction, the load imposed upon a bearing disposed around the circumference of the pinion shaft.In a front planetary gear unit of a main transmission of the automatic transmission, a helical planetary pinion has its rear portion cut to form an cutout portion and to have an axial-direction cross section asymmetrical in the direction of its rotation axis in order to uniformize the load imposed upon a bearing disposed around the circumference of the pinion shaft.It is thereby possible to reduce the weight of each planetary pinion and, hence, the centrifugal force acting on the pinion. In the overdrive planetary gear unit, the center of gravity of the planetary pinion is shifted toward the rear end of the pinion, and the centrifugal force acting on this pinion is therefore smaller at the front end, thereby reducing the load imposed on the bearing at the front end. In the front planetary pinion gear unit of the main transmission unit, the center of gravity of the planetary pinion is shifted toward the front end, and the centrifugal force is therefore smaller at the rear end, thereby reducing the load imposed on the bearing at the rear end. The non-uniformity of the load on each bearing in the axial direction is thereby reduced.
