Abstract: A vehicle electrical system having an electrical energy store,, a direct voltage converter and a direct current transmission connection is described. The direct current transmission connection is connected to the energy store via the direct voltage converter. The vehicle electrical system also has a bypass switch which connects the electrical energy store in a switchable fashion to the direct voltage transmission connection. In addition, a method, a charging system, a charging station and a further vehicle electrical system are described.

Abstract: Systems and methods for energy storage and management may be useful for a variety of applications, including launch devices. A system can include a direct current (DC) bus configured to operate within a predetermined range of voltages. The system can also include an array comprising a plurality of ultra-capacitors connected to the DC bus and configured to supply the DC bus with energy. The system can further include an input configured to receive energy from a power grid, wherein the power grid is configured to supply fewer than 250 amps of power. The system can additionally include an output configured to supply more than 250 amps of power. The system can also include a controller configured to control charging and discharging of the array of ultra-capacitors and configured to control the DC bus to remain within the predetermined range of voltages.

The control system includes an electric motor having a plurality of motor coils, an energy storage device providing energy to the electric control system, transistor modules selectively coupling the electric motor to the energy storage device, a connector selectively coupling to an AC power source, a controllable switching device configured to selectively couple the connector to the electric motor; and a microcontroller controlling the switching device to couple the connector to at least one of the motor coils during a detected charging mode, and control one or more of the plurality of transistor modules to couple the motor coil to the energy storage device during the detected charging mode.

Abstract: A voltage quality module (VQM) function and a solar power generation function are integrated by sharing a single voltage converter (VC) within the electrical system of an automotive vehicle with an electric-start internal combustion engine. The cost of adding solar power generating capabilities to vehicles, the packaging complexities of the systems, and the number of added components are all decreased. The VC can be a DC-DC converter in a boost mode or a buck mode. A switching circuit selectably couples the VC between a main battery and an accessory bus or to between a solar panel and an auxiliary battery. A VC controller regulating a VC output using the main battery to stabilize an accessory bus voltage when in an engine crank mode and otherwise regulating the VC output to match an auxiliary battery voltage using the solar panel output.

Abstract: Disclosed are a three-phase wireless power transfer (WPT) system and three-phase wireless rechargeable unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system based on the same. Three power receiving coils, including resonators, are installed at the ends of three landing leg of the UAV. A three-phase power converter installed in the UAV receives the three-phase AC induction current induced in three power receiving coils, including resonators, converting the three-phase AC induction current into a DC current to be charged in a battery. A three-phase power wireless charging apparatus wirelessly transfers three-phase power from three power transmitting coils to the three power receiving coils of the UAV when the three landing legs land on three coil seating units provided on a charging platform. A magnetic flux leakage shielding coil may be provided to prevent magnetic flux leakage from approaching the UAV. The power transfer efficiency is excellent, and electromagnetic interference can be also reduced.

Abstract: An electric power reception device for a vehicle is equipped with an electric power reception unit that is configured to be able to receive electric power from an electric power transmission device in a non-contact manner, a communication portion that transmits information on a position or dimension of the electric power reception unit to the electric power transmission device, and a vehicle ECU that controls the communication portion. Preferably, the vehicle ECU transmits pre-stored information to the electric power transmission device with the aid of the communication portion, before allowing a vehicle to be parked at an electric power reception position of the electric power transmission device. The information includes at least one of a size of the electric power reception unit, a size of the vehicle in which the electric power reception unit is mounted, and a mounting position of the electric power reception unit in the vehicle.
