    摘要: A component to control the viscosity of phase change material formulations is made by reacting selected nucleophiles, including fatty acid/alcohol reactants with an isocyanate, is disclosed. The addition of the isocyanate and the different nucleophiles will create a viscosity modifying component of low viscosity that can be formulated with higher molecular weight polyamide resins to achieve increased toughness in phase change solid imaging materials and carrier compositions used to make phase change ink jet inks.

    摘要: The present invention preferably employs a phase change ink composition that includes a combination of different dye types such as an anthraquinone dye and a xanthene dye, which is most preferably a rhodamine dye. While each dye type is insufficiently soluble with respect to favored carrier compositions to preserve color saturation in reduced ink quantity prints, the dye type combination permits increased dye loading and maintains print quality. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a favored carrier composition is adjusted to promote the colored form of a preferred rhodamine dye (C.I. Solvent Red 49) and mixed with a preferred anthraquinone dye (C.I. Solvent Red 172) whose concentration is kept below a critical level to prevent post printed blooming. The resulting preferred phase change ink compositions provide a magenta phase change ink with enhanced light fastness and color saturation, as well as good compatibility with preferred existing subtractive primary color phase change inks.

The degassing apparatus includes a first chamber disposed along a liquid delivery path to capture gas within the liquid delivery path. The degassing apparatus also includes a set of membranes having at least one membrane, the set of membranes disposed along the liquid delivery path to selectively allow the gas to pass through the set of membranes. The degassing apparatus further includes a second chamber disposed above the set of membranes to evacuate the gas from the first chamber. Moreover, the degassing apparatus includes a one-way valve configured to vent the gas from the second chamber when pressure inside the second chamber exceeds a first predetermined value.

    摘要: Phase change compositions that are solid at ambient temperature and liquid at an elevated temperature above ambient temperature are disclosed for advantageous use in selective deposition modeling methods for building three-dimensional objects. A phase change composition according to the disclosed invention is a semi-crystalline component mixture having a freezing point of at least about 68.degree. C., a melting point of at least about 88.degree. C. and a viscosity of about 13 centipoise at 135.degree. C. The composition includes a plurality of waxes having a broad melting point range and molecular weight range. Three-dimensional objects having minimal curl, delamination and stress cracks can be produced at a faster rate than heretofore known by using selective deposition modeling techniques employing the disclosed compositions.
