摘要: Example implants, systems and methods using sensors for orthopedic surgical assessment and/or planning are described herein. An example system can include a wearable sensor device for pre-operative use by a patient before an orthopedic surgery to generate pre-operative sensor data. The system can also include an implantable sensor device (e.g., a bone implant) to generate and aggregate post-operative sensor data associated with the patient after the surgery. The system can retrieve the pre-operative sensor data and the post-operative sensor data and predict, analyze or assess an outcome of the surgery.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a shoulder prosthesis. The shoulder prosthesis includes a glenoid component, a humeral component, and an articulation component. The glenoid component includes a glenoid body having a proximal side and a distal side, the distal side shaped to engage with a resected portion of a glenoid cavity. The humeral component includes a humeral body having a proximal side and a distal side, the distal side shaped to engage with a resected portion of a humerus. The articulation component is positionable between the proximal side of the glenoid component and the proximal side of the humeral component, the articulation component configured to be maintained between the glenoid and humeral components, after implantation, by at least one of a deltoid muscle and a rotator cuff.

摘要: A surgical instrument including an inserter having a body and a head. The head is dimensioned for receipt within a cavity formed by a final junction surface, for example a female tapered surface, of a prosthetic component. In one exemplary embodiment, a portion of the head has a scratch hardness that is less than the scratch hardness of the prosthetic component, i.e., is formed from a softer material. This allows for the cover of the head to be received within the cavity formed by the final junction surface of the prosthetic component without substantially scratching or damaging the final junction surface.

摘要: A tibial augment for use with a knee joint prosthesis, composed of annular members of different stock sizes, each size being configured to fit within a cavity formed in a human tibia. The augment may include a stepped distal surface. A provisional (temporary) tibial augment used to ensure a proper fit for the permanent augment is also provided. The provisional may include grooves configured to cooperate with a set of ribs on a tong-like holder used for removing the provisional from the cavity. A pusher for use implanting the tibial augment is also provided. In addition, a system for creating a cavity in a human tibia is also described. The system preferably includes a guide with a slot therein and a set of osteotomes that are inserted within different portions of the slot. Methods for using the tools and/or implanting the prosthetic devices discussed above are also described.

摘要: An apparatus includes a surgical retractor and a light conduit releasably coupled to the surgical retractor. In an alternative embodiment, a method of illuminating a surgical cavity includes expanding the cavity with a plurality of surgical retractors, transmitting light from a remote source the to the cavity through a light conduit of at least one of the retractors, focusing a first amount of the light into a first portion of the cavity via the retractor including the conduit, and dispersing a second amount of the light into a second portion of the cavity via substantially lustrous surfaces of the retractors.

摘要: A case for modular neck components for hip implants. The case may include indicators based on independent variables associated with physical characteristics of the implant, including leg length, offset, and anteversion. During surgery, the surgeon may be confronted with a need to change a preoperatively-chosen modular neck. For example, the surgeon may desire a change in at least one of the variables, e.g., leg length, offset, and/or anteversion. The case allows the surgeon to quickly and easily select a different modular neck based on an evaluation of one of the variables without requiring reevaluation of the other variables. A method described herein may include preoperative planning in which a template including a grid coordinate system is used, which advantageously provides an intuitive system for the surgeon both preoperatively and during surgery.
