    摘要: Planar, polarization insensitive, optical elements to control refraction of transmitted light in free space are disclosed. In one aspect, an optical element includes a substrate having a planar surface, and a polarization insensitive, high contrast, sub-wavelength grating composed of posts that extend from the planar surface. The grating has at least one region. Within each region, cross-sectional dimensions of the posts and/or lattice arrangement of the posts are nonperiodically varied to control refraction of light transmitted through the optical element.

    摘要: A broadband optical beam splitter can comprise a non-metallic high contrast grating including a substrate and an array of posts attached to a surface of the substrate. The grating can have a subwavelength period with respect to a preselected optical energy wavelength, the preselected optical energy wavelength within the range of 400 nm to 1.6 μm. Additionally, the broadband optical beam splitter can have a bandwidth of 80 nm to 120 nm and can have an optical energy loss of less than 5%.

    摘要: A multiplexing/de-multiplexing memristive device includes a memristive matrix containing mobile dopants; and programming electrodes which apply programming electrical field such that the mobile dopants selectively form a conductive band which connects a first signal electrode to one of a plurality of second electrodes. A method for operating a multiplexing/de-multiplexing memristive device includes applying a programming electrical field to achieve a first dopant configuration in a memristive matrix, the first dopant configuration connecting a base electrode to a input/output electrode; conducting an electrical current from between the base electrode and the input/output electrode; and applying a second programming electrical field to achieve a second dopant configuration, the second dopant configuration connecting the base electrode to a second input/output electrode; and conducting an electrical current from the base electrode to the second input/output electrode.

    摘要: Tunable resonator systems and methods for tuning resonator systems are disclosed. In one aspect, a resonator system includes an array of resonators disposed adjacent to a waveguide, at least one temperature sensor located adjacent to the array of resonators, and a resonator control electronically connected to the at least one temperature sensor. Each resonator has a resonance frequency in a resonator frequency comb and channels with frequencies in a channel frequency comb are transmitted in the waveguide. Resonance frequencies in the resonator frequency comb are to be adjusted in response to ambient temperature changes detected by the at least one temperature sensors to align the resonance frequency comb with the channel frequency comb.
