摘要: In accordance with the invention, the mounting position of a throttle opening sensor is adjusted in such a manner that the output voltage of the sensor attains a value a value of V.sub.100 at a throttle opening of 100%. When execution of the system program starts, V.sub.0 is stored in memory as initialized voltage data at a throttle opening of 0%. A throttle opening .theta..alpha. corresponding to sensed voltage data V.alpha. is calculated in an arithmetic unit in accordance with the following equation: ##EQU1## The throttle opening - output voltage characteristic may change due to an error in mounting the throttle opening sensor, a change in the length of the throttle cable caused by a temperature variation, or a change in resistance value caused by aging. If such is the case and a voltage V'.sub.0 greater than the previously stored voltage V.sub.O prevailing at the throttle opening of 0% is sensed, then V'.sub.0 is stored in memory as new voltage data corresponding to the throttle opening of 0%. Thereafter, a throttle opening .theta.'.alpha. corresponding to sensed voltage data V'.alpha. is calculated in accordance with Eq. (1). Therefore, since an adjustment is made so as to absorb any variance in the throttle opening - output voltage characteristic of the throttle opening sensor, an accurate throttle signal can be obtained at all times despite a change in the characteristic of the throttle opening sensor when the sensor is mounted or due aging.

摘要: A rate of change in vehicle velocity is calculated by comparing a present vehicle velocity signal and an immediately preceding vehicle velocity signal. If the rate of change in vehicle velocity is greater than a rate of change capable of being produced by actual traveling of the vehicle, a decision is rendered to the effect that the vehicle velocity sensor is faulty, fail-safe mode processing is executed and the automatic transmission is controlled in such a manner that traveling of the vehicle will not be impaired. Thus, if the vehicle velocity sensor malfunctions, the automatic transmission can be controlled so as not to impair traveling of the vehicle, thereby allowing the vehicle to travel safely and stably. The fail-safe function can be performed satisfactorily even if only a single vehicle velocity sensor is provided.

摘要: In accordance with the invention, as shown, for example, in FIG. 1, when a second counter 14 attains a number of pulses n needed for period measurement, the time required for n pulses to enter is obtained from a second memory 16, which stores the time that prevailed n pulses ago, and a first memory 15, which stores the time prevailing when the present velocity signal enters. Vehicle velocity is calculated from the time obtained. A second timer 11 is reset whenever the velocity signal enters in order to check the pulse input time interval. When the value in the second timer 11 exceeds a predetermined value t, the second counter 14 is reset in order to remeasure the time required for the n pulses to enter. Thereafter, the contents of the first memory 15 are stored in the second memory 16 and the second timer 11 is also reset. Accordingly, when the value in the second timer 11 exceeds the predetermined value t, namely when the vehicle is traveling at a very low velocity, the system forgoes the calculation of vehicle velocity. As a result, shift signals are not outputted to the shift solenoids on the basis of a vehicle velocity different from the present vehicle velocity and, hence, an erroneous shift does not take place. The arrangement of the system is a simple one since only the clock signal of the microcomputer is utilized.

摘要: A navigation system provides road guidance by displaying information relating to roads on a structure shape map, together with landmark information, in such a manner that only information around the present position is highlighted. The system retrieves road information in the direction of travel from the present position according to the vehicle speed, or road information within a predetermined angular or distance range in the direction of travel. Information relating to roads includes information indicating a one-way road, information indicating a road into which entry is prohibited, and information indicating a pedestrian crossing and a railroad crossing. These items of information are displayed by using marks, and the landmark information is displayed by using landmarks, thereby displaying information necessary for travel in a readily perceivable manner according to the travel conditions. When the vehicle enters a parking lot in the middle of the guidance for a route to a destination, the system searches for a route from the parking lot to the destination and outputs the found route by using a structure-shape map. The parking lot in this case is one within a predetermined walking distance from the destination. If the parking lot is in close proximity of the destination, further guidance is not necessary and the guidance is terminated.

摘要: In a navigation system, user preferred road data is determined and stored during travel to supplement fixed road data such as map data, intersection data, node data, and destination data stored in CD-ROM for subsequent use in providing route guidance in accordance with user road preferences. The user preferred road data is the data of actual trips, and the preference of the user is reflected in the user preferred road data. To determine user preferences, either the user preferred road data is compared to the fixed road data or a searched route calculated from the user preferred road data and CD-ROM data is compared with the searched route calculated from CD-ROM data. By using the determined user preferences in route searching, it is possible to provide more elaborate route searching and route guidance in accordance with the preference of the user.

Designation and entry of a location are performed by displaying the location name and address retrieved by entry of a telephone number, as well as the map centered on said location, on the display means. Since the amount of data is broken up into the telephone-number data and address data, the amount of telephone-number data can be reduced.

摘要: A navigation system calculates a route from a present position of a vehicle to a destination and provides guidance based on the calculated route. When the vehicle is within a given distance from a next approaching branch point requiring guidance, branch points existing within a given distance from next approaching branch point are determined and direction information for the branch points is acquired. The acquired direction information is compared with direction information at the next approaching branch point, and a common direction information is displayed based on the result of the comparison. Also, the navigation system according to the present invention detects a name of an interchange where the vehicle is to exit from the course and a distance to said interchange based on the present position of the vehicle in case the road where the vehicle is currently driven along is an expressway or a toll road. The navigation system according to the present invention calculates a route from the present position to the destination and properly calculates and provides guidance for the expected time of arrival at the destination as the vehicle moves.

摘要: A solenoid driving circuit for an automatic transmission in which a potential difference compensating device, such as a Darlington-connected transistor circuit, switching transistor, and/or diode, is connected between a resistance element and a power ground, and a controlling device monitors voltage values at opposite sides of the resistor element so as to detect a current value flowing across a solenoid. The controlling device determines whether the detected value of the current flowing across the solenoid is abnormal, and the controlling device shuts off the current of a solenoid driving device when it is abnormal. The potential difference compensating device is provided with a switching device, and the controlling device turns off the switching device when the monitoring current value is abnormal. This circuit prevents an excessive current from flowing to the solenoid and an excessive discharge from the potential difference compensating device to the power ground owing to a short circuit with the supply line of a battery.

摘要: In a fail-safe control device for an electronically controlled automatic transmission to be mounted on a vehicle, a sensor for the number of revolution input to a T/M is newly provided for the electronically controlled automatic transmission, and an actual gear ratio of the T/M is calculated in accordance with the number of revolution input to the T/M and the number of revolution output from the T/M or the car speed. If the calculated actual gear ratio is coincided with the formal gear ratio, it is determined that the state is normal, while if they are not coincided with each other, it is determined that the T/M is in a failure state. As a result of this, failure detection of the T/M is performed. Therefore, in a case when the T/M is in a failure state, a driver can take a measure, for exmple, by performing an emergency control. Furthermore, the occurrence of the failure can be displayed by a detected failure displaying device so that the driver can take a measure such as a repair.
