摘要: Anchoring mechanisms for releasably securing an intravascular device along an elongated member such as a guidewire or catheter. The anchoring mechanism may include an object that can be actuated between an unlocked position and a locked position. In the unlocked position, the anchoring mechanism is slidably and rotationally disposed about the elongated member. In the locked position, the anchoring mechanism is releasably secured to the elongated member, preventing movement thereon. A placement mechanism such as a tubular member can be utilized to actuate the anchoring mechanism between the unlocked and locked positions.

摘要: Devices and methods for monitoring the flow of blood through an intravascular device are disclosed. An apparatus for monitoring blood flow in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes an intravascular device coupled to an elongated member, a first sensor adapted to measure fluidic pressure proximal the intravascular device, a second sensor adapted to measure fluidic pressure distal the intravascular device, and a control unit for comparing the signals received from the first and second sensors to determine the pressure drop across the intravascular device.

摘要: A distal protection device comprising a filter cartridge having a frame and filter material and a proximal region having a ridge adapted for interface with a retrieval device, wherein the retrieval device includes a distally located expandable cuff. The distal protection device is able to be deployed remotely in a body vessel lumen optionally using a guidewire and sheath and later retrieved using the retrieval device. A method of retrieving a cartridge from a body vessel lumen, the method comprising the steps of providing a filter cartridge disposed within a body vessel lumen; providing a retrieval device; advancing the retrieval device distally in the body vessel lumen until at least a portion of the retrieval device is distal the proximal most portion of the filter cartridge; engaging the filter cartridge with the retrieval device such that at least a portion of the filter cartridge is prevented from moving distally beyond at least a distal portion of the retrieval device; and advancing the retrieval device and the filter cartridge proximally from the body lumen.

摘要: An intravascular guidewire having an articulating distal section for improved maneuverability beyond a lesion or other protrusion within a body lumen. An elongated core wire having an actuatable stop disposed thereon is adapted to have a reduced profile in a first position, and an enlarged profile in a second position. The actuatable stop can be adapted to expand by any number of means, including a spring coil, a polymeric tube or a mesh sleeve. In one particular embodiment, the actuatable stop comprises a distal section of a tubular member having a plurality of circumferentially disposed openings adapted to permit a plurality of struts disposed therebetween to expand in an outward direction when compressed axially.

The retrieval device may comprise an elongated tubular member having a relatively stiff proximal segment, an expandable distal segment, and an inner lumen disposed about a guidewire. The distal segment may include a braid configured to expand when axially compressed. A dilator tip operatively coupled to the elongated tubular member and guidewire may be used to track the retrieval device through the body.

摘要: A renal denervation apparatus includes a treatment element dimensioned for deployment on or within a renal artery of a patient. The treatment element comprises a predefined pattern arranged to complete at least one revolution of the treatment element. The apparatus includes a treatment source. The treatment source and treatment element are configured to cooperatively facilitate communication of an agent from the treatment source to the pattern arrangement of the treatment element. The treatment element is configured to deliver denervation therapy using the agent via the pattern arrangement to one or more regions of the renal artery adjacent the pattern arrangement, such that at least one complete revolution of the renal artery is subjected to the denervation therapy.

摘要: Devices, systems, and methods facilitate modification of renal sympathetic nerve activity using a force generating arrangement. A device for mechanically modifying renal sympathetic nerve activity includes a contact arrangement having a shape that generally conforms to a portion of a renal artery wall and is configured for placement at the renal artery wall portion. A compression arrangement is configured to cooperate with the contact arrangement to place the wall portion of the renal artery in compression sufficient to achieve a desired reduction in renal sympathetic nerve activity. The compression arrangement and the contact arrangement are preferably configured to cooperatively place the wall portion of the renal artery in compression sufficient to irreversibly terminate renal sympathetic nerve activity.

In one exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the proximal section may be formed of a relatively stiff, inelastic material, whereas the distal section may be formed of a relatively flexible, elastic material having super-elastic properties. A coupling member may be placed adjacent to the transition section to secure the proximal and distal sections together.
