摘要: Systems and methods are provided for delivering therapy using an applicator guide and a plurality of catheters for delivering, e.g., radiation, drug, RF, laser or ultrasound therapy. The applicator guide includes a through hole channels through which the catheters may be introduced. The through hole channels may be sized such that the plurality of catheters may freely and independently traverse the through hole channels. By positioning the applicator guide over a target area of a patient's skin, the catheters are free to make contact with the patient's skin and conform to any contours of the patient's skin. The catheters may be microneedles that may be locked in the conformed orientation, such that the microneedles may non-invasively penetrate the patient's skin to deliver the therapy transdermally. The applicator guide may be coupled to an afterloader, drug reservoir, pulse generator, and/or power generator controlled by a healthcare provider via a computing device.

摘要: A system and method can be used to denervate at least a portion of a bronchial tree. An energy emitter of an instrument is percutaneously delivered to a treatment site and outputs energy to damage nerve tissue of the bronchial tree. The denervation procedure can be performed without damaging non-targeted tissue. Minimally invasive methods can be used to open airways to improve lung function in subjects with COPD, asthma, or the like. Different sections of the bronchial tree can be denervated while leaving airways intact to reduce recovery times.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for applying an fragment of a neurotoxin such as the active light chain (LC) of the botulinum toxin (BoNT), such as one of the serotype A, B, C, D, E, F or G botulinum toxins, via permeabilization of targeted cell membranes to enable translocation of the botulinum neurotoxin light chain (BoNT-LC) molecule across the targeted cell membrane to the cell cytosol where a therapeutic response is produced in a mammalian system. The methods and apparatus include use of catheter based delivery systems, non-invasive delivery systems, and transdermal delivery systems.

摘要: An ultrasound therapy system and method is provided that provides directional, focused ultrasound to localized regions of tissue within body joints, such as spinal joints. An ultrasound emitter or transducer is delivered to a location within the body associated with the joint and heats the target region of tissue associated with the joint from the location. Such locations for ultrasound transducer placement may include for example in or around the intervertebral discs, or the bony structures such as vertebral bodies or posterior vertebral elements such as facet joints. Various modes of operation provide for selective, controlled heating at different temperature ranges to provide different intended results in the target tissue, which ranges are significantly affected by pre-stressed tissues such as in-vivo intervertebral discs. In particular, treatments above 70 degrees C., and in particular 75 degrees C., are used for structural remodeling, whereas lower temperatures achieve other responses without appreciable remodeling.

摘要: The present invention in some embodiments thereof relates to a method for selectively modifying nerve activity without causing substantial damage to non-targeted tissue, comprising introducing a catheter device comprising one or more ultrasonic transceivers to the pulmonary artery lumen, receiving, using the one or more ultrasonic transceivers, echo signals reflected from the non-targeted tissue following emission of ultrasound energy by the one or more transceivers, analyzing the received echo signals to identify at least one of a type and location of the non-targeted tissue relative to the one or more transceivers, and emitting ultrasound energy from the one or more ultrasonic transceivers in accordance with the analysis, to modify nerve activity without substantially damaging the identified non-targeted tissue.

摘要: A medical imaging and therapy device is provided that may include any of a number of features. The device may include a Histotripsy transducer, a generator and controller configured to deliver Histotripsy energy from the transducer to target tissue, and an imaging system. In some embodiments, a method of treating tissue with Histotripsy energy comprises positioning a focus of a histotripsy transducer on a target tissue, delivering histotripsy energy from the histotripsy transducer through a bone aberrator, forming a histotripsy bubble cloud on the focus, and preventing the formation of secondary histotripsy bubble clouds without implementing an aberration correction algorithm.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for renal neuromodulation using a pulsed electric field to effectuate electroporation or electrofusion. It is expected that renal neuromodulation (e.g., denervation) may, among other things, reduce expansion of an acute myocardial infarction, reduce or prevent the onset of morphological changes that are affiliated with congestive heart failure, and/or be efficacious in the treatment of end stage renal disease. Embodiments of the present invention are configured for percutaneous intravascular delivery of pulsed electric fields to achieve such neuromodulation.

摘要: A method of determining a candidate ablation location using historical ablation data includes generating a database including a plurality of ablation records, and generating a set of probability parameters describing each ablation record. The method also includes developing an algorithm based upon the probability parameters for the ablation records. For a candidate ablation procedure, the method includes receiving patient parameters associated with a patient receiving the candidate ablation procedure, and determining at least one candidate condition associated with the patient and a respective probability associated with each candidate condition. The method further includes applying the algorithm to determine at least one candidate ablation location based upon the respective probabilities associated with the at least one candidate condition, and displaying the at least one candidate ablation location on a visual interface of a cardiac mapping system.
