摘要: A method for controlling the deposition of an organic layer in making an organic light-emitting device includes depositing at a deposition zone organic material forming a layer of the organic light-emitting device and providing a movable sensor which, when moved into the deposition zone and is being coated during the depositing step, provides a signal representing the deposition rate and thickness of the organic material forming the layer. The method also includes controlling the deposition of the organic material in response to the signal to control the deposition rate and thickness of the deposited organic material forming the layer, moving the movable sensor from the deposition zone to a cleaning position, and removing organic material from the movable sensor to permit reuse of the movable sensor.

摘要: A method of depositing a patterned organic layer includes providing a manifold and an OLED display substrate in a chamber at reduced pressure and spaced relative to each other; providing a structure sealingly covering at least one surface of the manifold, the structure including a plurality of nozzles extending through the structure into the manifold. The method also includes delivering vaporized organic materials into the manifold, and applying an inert gas under pressure into the manifold so that the inert gas provides a viscous gas flow through each of the nozzles, such viscous gas flow transporting at least portions of the vaporized organic materials from the manifold through the nozzles to provide directed beams of the inert gas and of the vaporized organic materials and projecting the directed beams onto the OLED display substrate for depositing a pattern of an organic layer on the substrate.

摘要: A display apparatus (10) has at least one color channel providing a modulated light for each of a plurality of image frames (92). One or more laser sources that provide an illumination beam having a first polarization transmission axis. An imaging modulator (854, 85g, 85b) in the path of the illumination beam is actuable to direct the modulated light toward a projection lens. A laser blanking apparatus in the path of the modulated light is disposed to block transient light between image frames and has at least one analyzer (66) having a second polarization transmission axis that is orthogonal to the first polarization transmission axis and at least one light polarization modulator that is synchronously timed to rotate polarization of transient light during an interval between frames.

摘要: Drop formation devices are provided with a sequence of drop formation waveforms to modulate the liquid jets to selectively cause portions of the liquid jets to break off into print drops having a print drop volume Vp and non-print drops having a non-print drop volume Vnp. The print and non-print drop volumes are distinct from each other. A timing delay device shifts the timing of drop formation waveforms supplied to drop formation devices of first and second nozzle groups so that print drops from the first and second nozzle groups are not aligned relative to each other. A charging device includes a charge electrode that is positioned in the vicinity of break off of liquid jets to produce a print drop charge state on drops of volume Vp and to produce a non-print drop charge state on drops of volume Vnp.

摘要: A liquid dispenser includes a downwardly inclined slide surface. A carrier liquid dispensing channel includes an outlet that exits onto the downwardly inclined slide surface. A carrier liquid source provides a carrier liquid that flows continuously through the carrier liquid dispensing channel, through the outlet of the carrier liquid dispensing channel, and down the downwardly inclined slide surface. A functional liquid supply channel includes an outlet that exits onto the downwardly inclined slide surface. A functional liquid source provides a functional liquid to the outlet of the functional liquid supply channel. A drop formation device, associated with an interface of the outlet of the functional liquid supply channel and the downwardly inclined slide surface, is selectively actuated to form a discrete drop of the functional liquid in the carrier liquid flowing down the downwardly inclined slide surface. The functional liquid is immiscible in the carrier liquid.

摘要: An apparatus for obtaining an image of a tooth having at least one light source providing incident light having a first spectral range for obtaining a reflectance image from the tooth and a second spectral range for exciting a fluorescence image from the tooth. A polarizing beamsplitter in the path of the incident light from both sources directs light having a first polarization state toward the tooth and directs light from the tooth having a second polarization state along a return path toward a sensor, wherein the second polarization state is orthogonal to the first polarization state. A first lens in the return path directs image-bearing light from the tooth toward the sensor, and obtains image data from the portion of the light having the second polarization state. A long-pass filter in the return path attenuates light in the second spectral range.

摘要: A liquid ejection system ejects a liquid jet through a nozzle. A drop formation device modulates the jet causing portions to break off into drop pairs, including first and second drops, separated on average by a drop pair period, and modulates the jet to cause portions to break off into larger third drops separated on average by the same period. A charging device includes a varying electrical potential source providing a waveform including first and second distinct voltage states and a period equal to the drop formation period. The charging device and the formation device are synchronized to produce first, second, and third charge to mass ratios on the first, second, and third drops, respectively. A deflection device causes the first, second, and third drops to travel along first, second, and third paths, respectively. The first and third charge to mass ratios and paths are substantially the same.
