摘要: A display controller device for processing image data has a data processor for generating a display signal. The device has a writeback unit having an input coupled to the display signal and an output coupled to a debug interface. The writeback unit has a slice controller for defining a set of slices of the image and consecutively selecting slices of the set, and a slice selector for sampling pixel data from a selected slice. A slice buffer is coupled between the slice selector and the debug output for temporarily storing the selected pixel data. The slice controller transfers the selected pixel data to the debugger and subsequently selects a next slice until all slices of the set have been transferred. The debug system receives the slices and regenerates and displays the image.

摘要: In a video system, a video source, e.g., a camera, provides a source video stream. The source video stream comprises a stream of image data units. A buffer control unit writes the image data units consecutively to a circular buffer. A display control unit reads the image data units consecutively from the circular buffer to generate a target video stream in accordance with a read delay. The display control unit comprises a feedback loop which controls timing of the operation of reading the image data units from the circular buffer so as to reduce a difference between the read delay and a reference delay. The video system may, for example, be installed in a vehicle, e.g., for providing a driver with a live view from a camera.

Each buffer has a respective fixed memory capacity for storing the fetched data. The processing unit activates layers in the output image for displaying an output image on the display. The channels correspond to associated layers. The buffer controller adds to the respective fixed memory capacity of a particular buffer associated to an activated layer, one further fixed memory capacity of at least one further buffer associated to an inactive layer.

摘要: A display system and a method of displaying an image are hereby presented. The display system is arranged to display an image on a screen which has at least one useful screen area which is intended to be seen by a user and at least one non-useful screen area which the user cannot see. The display device comprises a bandwidth saver unit arranged to determine a location on the screen of a current pixel to be displayed. If the pixel is located in a non-useful screen area of the screen, then the fetching from a data memory of a pixel value is inhibited by the bandwidth saver unit with respect to this pixel, and a replacement, fixed pixel value is passed to a data processing unit for further processing.

摘要: A display processor device is for processing display image data by overlaying a multitude of image layers. Pixel values of at least one of the image layers are stored in a memory and may comprise pixels values having a single predefined value, such as transparency. The display processor has a fetch unit for selectively fetching stored pixel values from the memory by skipping stored pixels values having the single predefined value according to a fetch mask indicative of pixels values having the single predetermined value. Advantageously the bandwidth for accessing the memory is reduced, because less pixel data values need be retrieved. Power consumption may be reduced, and slower memories may be applied.

摘要: An audio unit, connected or connectable to a safety-critical apparatus, or integrated or integrable in the apparatus, is proposed. The audio unit may comprise a driver unit, a detection unit, and an alert unit. The driver unit may generate an analog audio signal in response to a request from the apparatus, to drive an acoustic output unit and thereby generate an acoustic signal for a user of the apparatus. The detection unit may detect the audio signal. The alert unit may generate an alert signal in response to the request if the detection unit has not detected the audio signal. It can thus be checked whether the acoustic signal is generated. A method for generating a safety critical acoustic signal is also described.

The blending stage is provided for blending multiple image layers into one display output image and comprises a plurality of input channels for receiving pixel data for the multiple image layers. The blending controller is coupled to the blending stage for controlling operation of the blending stage. The blending stage further comprises a controllable switch for coupling an output of at least one blender of the multiple blenders to a display output of the blending stage for regular on-the-fly blending or to an offline blending memory for storing a result of an offline blending task. The blending controller comprises an input for receiving layer data describing locations and/or properties of the multiple image layers and a predictor for, based on the layer data, predicting an availability of the at least one blender. The blending controller is further operative to control the blending stage to perform the offline blending task in dependence of the predicted availability.

摘要: The invention provides an apparatus and method for checking the integrity of visual display information and has particular application to checking images displayed in an automotive vehicle, such images containing safety critical information. The image intensity is checked only to an extent commensurate with a human being able to interpret its correct meaning. Hence, images which are defective in some way yet still recognisable by the human eye are not classified as failures. In one embodiment, a part of the image containing safety critical information is segmented into smaller areas and the luminance of pixels in each segmented area is compared with a threshold brightness level and a threshold darkness level. A histogram for each area is generated and compared with a reference.
