    摘要: A printhead reservoir includes at least one ink reservoir to hold ink and at least one umbilical to deliver ink to the ink reservoir under pressure. A filter resides between the umbilical and the ink reservoir having meniscus strength sufficient enough to prevent the reservoir from draining when the pressure is removed or if a pressure is applied downstream of the filter. The filter may reside above the ink reservoir to further reduce the ink drain back. The reservoir may also include a weir plate to allow the filter to reside below the ink level.

    摘要: The present invention typically is in the form of a needleless injector which includes the following components: (1) a needleless syringe installed in the injector for holding medication prior to injection, the syringe including an injection aperture at the forward end thereof; (2) a syringe plunger slidably mounted to the rear end of the syringe for forcing medication out the syringe aperture; (3) a syringe plunger drive mechanism providing power to drive the syringe plunger and thereby force medication out of the syringe; and (4) a syringe drive control mechanism for controlling the operation of the drive mechanism, the drive control mechanism including a warning system which warns the user if a pre-injection condition is not met, an interlock system which prevents injection from taking place if the pre-injection condition is not met, and a sensing system which senses whether the pre-injection condition is not met and conveys a signal to the warning and interlock systems informing as to whether the pre-injection condition is met.

    摘要: Liquid-transfer apparatus, and methodology employing the same, operatively interposable a syringe and a vial, and accommodating both a single-mouth-size (single-size), two-vial transfer procedure, and a two-mouth-size (two-size), two-vial transfer procedure. The apparatus includes a liquid-transfer device having a syringe-coupling end, a vial-coupling end, and liquid-passage structure effectively communicating between these ends. In the case of accommodating a single-mouth-size (single-size), two-vial procedure, only the liquid-transfer device is employed, and the same is sized with a vial-coupling end that is constructed for direct coupling to the top of the single-size vial which is used. In the case of accommodating a two-mouth-size (two-size), two-vial operation, the liquid-transfer device is employed along with a vial-coupling adaptor which is removably receivable in a connected relationship with the vial-coupling end in the device to adapt the same for coupling to the top of a vial having the smaller of the two sizes of vials which are to be employed. Under these circumstances, the entire procedure begins with coupling of the apparatus to a syringe and to the smaller-size vial, with the vial-coupling adaptor connected to the liquid-transfer device's vial-coupling end. Following a liquid-transfer operation with this smaller vial, the same is decoupled, and such decoupling automatically disconnects the vial-coupling adaptor and the liquid-transfer device. Thereafter, a vial of the larger size is coupled to the vial-coupling end in the liquid-transfer device, and a transfer procedure is completed between the syringe and the larger coupled vial.

    摘要: An air bearing sheet heater assembly is provided for heating a sheet in an ink imaging printer. It includes a heater plate that has a heating element and defines a first side of a sheet path through the heater assembly. It also includes at least one movable platelet that defines a second side of the sheet path, as well as, an air bearing assembly mounted to the at least one platelet. The air bearing assembly controllably creates an air bearing between the second side and the first side of the sheet path for moving and pneumatically spacing the front surface of the at least one movable platelet from the front side of the heater plate, thereby reducing stiction forces and friction along the sheet path through the air bearing sheet heater assembly.

    摘要: An apparatus and related method for improved image fusing in an ink jet printing system are provided. An ink image is transferred to a final receiving substrate by passing the substrate through a transfer nip. The substrate and ink image are then passed through a fusing nip that fuses the ink image into the final receiving substrate. Utilizing separate image transfer and image fusing operations allows improved image fusing and faster print speeds. The secondary fusing operation enables the image transfer process to use reduced pressures, whereby the load on the drum and transfer roller is reduced. Additionally, the secondary fusing operation may be utilized to apply a supplemental coating to the transferred image.
