摘要: An apparatus is provided for controllably connecting and disconnecting a piezoelectric actuator to and from an energy source to effect the displacement of a piezoelectric actuator for a fuel injector. Precise control of the timing and duration of the piezoelectric actuator is necessary to ensure that a proper quantity of fuel is delivered to each cylinder of an internal combustion engine. A charging and discharging means monitors the voltage level of the piezoelectric actuator, and the charging and discharging current of the piezoelectric actuator. Further, a smoothing means aids in leveling the charging and discharging current to better approximate a constant current to control the piezoelectric actuator providing a precise quantity of fuel to be delivered.

摘要: A plurality of sensor clusters are provided (61) wherein at least some of the sensor clusters are comprised of at least one light sensitive sensor and a plurality of light emitters. These sensor clusters are disposed (62) in close proximity to a subject user and, in a preferred approach, at least some of the sensor clusters are disposed substantially distal to one another. The light emitters are caused (63) to emit light and the light sensitive sensors are used (64) to detect interactions as between the subject user and the emitted light. These detected interactions are then used (65) to determine the user's heart rate. In a preferred embodiment, the sensed interaction information is dynamically modified as a reflection of how valid the information trajectory appears to be at any given time.

摘要: A method and apparatus for securely and controllably transferring medical information is provided. An electronic device, like a portable computer, personal digital assistant or intelligent medical monitoring device, is configured to communicate with a healthcare provider's server. The device receives both an authorization code and a medical treatment description from the health care provider. The authorization code permits the user to both view and make a single transfer of the medical treatment description to a medical treatment provider. The authorization code may be as simple as a security PIN, or it may be a digital right that enables software to be accessible to a user within the device. The device is then configured to either print a single copy or electronically upload the medical treatment description to the medical treatment provider. When printed, the medical treatment description may include a unique watermark or scanable barcode to verify authenticity. In one embodiment, a feedback communication may be established between the medical treatment provider and the healthcare provider, thereby providing notification of medical treatment description fulfillment.

摘要: A method and system for facilitating command of a group determines a present rank protocol associated with users of an ad hoc wireless communication network. The method includes identifying at a first wireless device a second wireless device in operative communication with the first wireless device (step 805). A physical parameter measured at the first wireless device is then compared with a physical parameter measured at the second wireless device and wirelessly received at the first wireless device (step 810). A base rank of a user of the first wireless device is then compared with a base rank of a user of the second wireless device (step 815). A present rank of the user of the first wireless device is then determined relative to a present rank of the user of the second wireless device based on comparisons of the physical parameters and the base ranks (step 820).

摘要: One or more items of apparel have a plurality of sensors (10, 11, and 12) disposed therein (either permanently or temporarily). These sensors sense physical states of the individual wearing the items of apparel and/or of the local environment. In one embodiment, multiple sensors sense, in alternative ways, a parameter that corresponds to a physical state of interest. Information from these alternative sensing approaches is co-processed to yield a resultant parameter value that can be used in various ways. In one embodiment, the parameter value is locally or remotely displayed. In one embodiment, the parameter value is used in comparison against risk thresholds to ascertain a degree of risk to the individual.
