An apparatus for measuring the shape and size of a rotary tool is provided which includes a tool rotation unit for rotating the tool around the tool axis, a tool moving mechanism for moving the tool in the axial direction, a measuring head having a line sensor, and a calculation control unit. The measuring head can be moved at a rate of a predetermined angle around a lateral shaft, located in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the tool, with one end of a measuring area of the line sensor as a center. Upon measuring the tool in terms of its shape and size, the aforementioned end of the line sensor is located in a position a given distance inside the aforementioned end of the tool, the line sensor is moved for every predetermined angle around a lateral shaft, with one end of the measuring area as a center, and measured values are fed to a computer through the line sensor, while the tool is rotated around its axis for every predetermined angle.

Disclosed is an apparatus which, even when it becomes impossible to take an image of a mobile object due to existence of an obstacle to hide the mobile object, is capable of making a simulatory screen display of the mobile object, thereby notifying a driver of a risk of collision with the mobile object. Even when it is impossible to take an image of the mobile object because of existence of an obstacle, the apparatus displays a simulated picture image of the mobile object superimposed on an actual picture image, by obtaining an optical flow or by performing pattern matching. Thus, an effect is obtained that the mobile object is viewed as if transmitted through the obstacle. By notifying the driver of the risk of collision in advance by means of sound or video image perceptible by a human being, the danger of the collision is avoided.

A head lubrication layer is formed on a head-slider plane of a head slider of the magnetic head. The load-bar lubrication layer reduces a dynamic friction coefficient with the ramp portion surface and suppresses occurrence of abrasion power, and the head lubrication layer suppresses adhesion of abrasion powder to the head-slider plane.

According to the present invention, it is possible to improve the usability of an automatic image editing apparatus by finding subject-captured scenes from inter-frame motion vectors for automatic editing of motion images. If the result of analyzing inter-frame motion vectors indicates that all motion vectors in a region are the same in direction and magnitude, this region is judged as a subject being followed. Thus, it is possible to automatically extract and edit subject-captured scenes. In addition, the edited images namely plural scenes may be displayed either in the same order as edited or in the order of importance. As well, similar scenes may be combined into a single image sequence. Thus, it is possible to provide improved usability to the viewer.

The lubricating agent film is made of a macromolecular compound having a polar end group. The lubricating agent film serves to reduce the friction between the threaded bore and the clamping screw. Generation of dust is prevented when the clamping screw is being screwed into the threaded bore. In addition, the clamping screw exhibits a larger axial force at a certain amount of a fastening torque as compared with a conventional clamping screw. A larger axial force can thus be applied to hold the second component onto the first component.

The exposure apparatus performs liquid immersion exposure for the substrate while adjusting a positional relationship between the surface of the substrate and the image plane formed through the projection optical system and the liquid, on the basis of the surface information detected by the focus/leveling-detecting system. The liquid immersion exposure can be performed at a satisfactory pattern transfer accuracy.
