    摘要: A sealed battery has a generator element enclosed within an external casing. An opening in the external casing is covered by a closure cap in which an injection hole for injecting electrolyte is provided. The injection hole is sealed using a sealing plug which is composed of a support member that is fixed on a surface of the closure cap so as to cover the injection hole and a plugging member that is at least partially formed of an elastic material and is supported by the support member so as to plug the injection hole. The plugging member is formed of an elastic material and is pressed into the injection hole by the support member. As a result, an airtight seal can be easily and securely achieved for the injection hole. The support member can be made large to facilitate handling, thereby reducing the likelihood of the sealing plug being improperly supplied during attachment to the injection hole.

    摘要: A sealed battery has an opening in an external casing sealed using a sealing plate that is laser welded to external casing. The sealing plate has a drop formed near a perimeter of the external surface of the sealing plate so that the surface of the sealing plate is higher at a perimeter of the sealing plate than at a more central position. When the sealing plate is laser welded to the rim of the external casing, the presence of the drop means that there is no direct thermal conduction path from the welded parts to the center of the sealing plate, which reduces the dissipation of heat away from the welded parts. As a result, there is a reduction in the thermal stresses that occur at the welded parts, which means that the formation of cracks in the welded joins can be suppressed, even when a low-power laser beam is used.

    摘要: A sealing plate for a prismatic secondary battery includes a pair of mouths for attaching a negative and positive electrode terminals, one mouth being formed near one end in a longitudinal direction of the sealing plate, and the other mouth being formed near the other end, coining areas used for positioning of an insulating member and formed around the pair of mouths on a front face of the sealing plate, a gas release valve and an electrolyte pour hole formed between the pair of mouths, and grooves formed between the respective coining areas and the long side edge of the sealing plate. The groove has a smaller depth near the gas release valve than the depth near the coining area. Even when the sealing plate is produced through forging, the front face has good flatness and the coining areas are unlikely to have a sink mark or a shear drop.

The prismatic battery has a structure in which a flat electrode including a positive electrode collector with a positive electrode substrate exposed portion and a negative electrode collector with a negative electrode substrate exposed portion is accommodated in an outer can. At least one of the positive electrode collector and the negative electrode collector has a rib. The rib is provided with an easily bendable part (a thin wall, groove, opening, or notch). The rib is bent at the easily bendable part when force is applied to the tip of the rib to prevent the tip from reaching the outer can by means of an insulation sheet to avoid the development of short circuits between the negative electrode collector and the outer can.

    摘要: By combining crimping fixing and laser welding, a collector attached to a substrate of an electrode assembly is fixed to a terminal. A negative electrode terminal 19A has a terminal portion formed on one side of a flange portion, and a cylindrical crimping member 19b on the other side. The cylindrical crimping member 19b is inserted through openings formed in a first insulating member, a sealing plate, a second insulating member, and a negative electrode collector 18a. The cylindrical crimping member 19b is crimped in a diameter-increasing direction, and is mechanically fixed in a countersunk hole 18c of the negative electrode collector 18a. A peripheral portion of a thin-walled portion 19d having a thickness smaller than those of other portions formed at the tip end portion of the cylindrical crimping member 19b is thoroughly adhered and welded by a high energy beam to the edge of the countersunk hole 18c.
