Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to a welding process for a battery module. In an embodiment, a system for welding two components in a battery module includes a laser source configured to emit a laser beam onto a workpiece having a first battery module component and a second battery module component. The system also has an actuator coupled to the laser source and configured to move the laser beam along a first axis and a second axis and a controller electrically coupled to the laser source and the actuator. The controller is configured to send a signal to the laser source and the actuator to form a sinusoidal lap weld on a surface of the workpiece, such that the first battery module component is electrically coupled to the second battery module component.

Abstract: The protection of an electrical energy accumulation device from electromagnetic attacks is provided. The electrical energy accumulation device comprises a housing made of an electrically conductive material, at least one electrical energy storage cell that is arranged in the housing and two terminals that are arranged through the housing, the terminals being electrically insulated from the housing, the terminals allowing electrical energy to be transferred between the at least one storage cell and the exterior of the device. The device further comprises, inside the housing, a specific component exhibiting an impedance having at least one resistive component that is higher than 1 ohm, which component is configured to dissipate the energy of electromagnetic interference attempting to penetrate the housing through at least one of the terminals.

Abstract: A power battery and a power battery top cap structure for a power battery are provided. The power battery top cap structure includes first and second electrode assemblies, a lower insulation member, a top cap piece, and an abutment member. Both the first and second electrode assemblies are fixed on the top cap piece. The lower insulation member is fixed below the top cap piece. The lower insulation member includes, along an X axis, a snapping portion and a connecting portion. The abutment member extends along a Y axis and abuts between the connecting portion and the top cap piece so that a minimum distance between the connecting portion and the top cap piece along the Z axis is G3, where G3>0. G3 may be greater than a minimum distance between the connecting portion and the top cap piece when the lower insulation member is fixed without the abutment member.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to a battery module having a housing and a stack of battery cells disposed in the housing. Each battery cell has a battery cell terminal and a battery cell vent on an end of each battery cell, and the battery cell vent is configured to exhaust effluent into the housing. The battery module has a vent shield plate disposed in the housing and directly along an immediate vent path of the effluent, a first surface of the vent shield plate configured to direct the effluent to an opening between the shield plate and the housing, and a second surface of the vent shield plate opposite the first surface. The battery module also has a venting chamber coupled to the opening and at least partially defined by the second surface and a vent configured to direct the effluent out of the battery module.

Abstract: A sealed-type battery includes an exterior body, a collector terminal, a hollow rivet defining a hollow section, and a reverse plate arranged between the collector terminal and the hollow rivet. The collector terminal includes: a projected section projected; a peripheral edge section provided; and a notch section provided in the peripheral edge section in a manner to surround the projected section and formed in a manner to reduce thickness of the collector terminal. In a projected direction of the projected section, the projected section is thicker than the peripheral edge section. A fitting section, to which the projected section is fitted, is provided in the reverse plate. The sealed-type battery includes a welded section that has a top surface opposing the hollow rivet and that joins the collector terminal and the reverse plate at a position between the projected section and the fitting section.
